Um.... aren't they just saying "hi"? The tone of voice they use seems to imply that.

Considering that it's from Japan, and "Hai" is a word used in a lot of situations...

And considering that people say "Yo" (Ray) and "Yahoo" (Carl), and "Hey" (Gwen)... I'd say it's "Hi".
