After nearly 4 years of courtship on Winter the 2nd me and Rosetta became husband and wife. While quite honestly she was my second choice... no one currently knows how to marry Fil and I didn't want to wait another 2-3 in game years to figure it out.

So the steps to get married are as follows...

Earn 200,000G and 2000 wood to purchase the house upgrade.
Purchase a kitchen and double bed from Ivan
Get the girl you want to 10 hearts and 10 friendship points.

Besides that, every girl has their own specific thing required for marriage... A list of those figured out so far (translated from a japanese website by Cher, all credit goes to her as I'm just quoting her from a Gamefaqs post)

You need the "marriage stone" + ...

Mist: The table at the top says the Daana cave has to be cleared, but the bottom details just say to have all soil on your field tilled.

Tabetha: 50 or more monsters aquired, have all monster barns built, and all monsters at 50 or more friend level.

Sharon: Gurimora Sou (scale?) Sword, made by Leo from the scale off the Gigant Mountain boss.

Rosette: White Stone from the Toros Cave when it's snowing.

Mei: 70+ "tokimekitai" (a fish you can catch in the BlueMist Cave's boss room, or trade a tokimekitai via wifi until it's level 70 or more.)

Lapis: Lapis Rosary

The rest of them don't have anything listed yet. That's all I can read.
To be a bit more in depth about the White stone from the toros caves, You have to search the large boulders. One of them will contain the white stone (I think it varies, not positive)

It's not a Lapis Rosary needed for Lapis, but a Lapislazure stone that you get from Cecilia after you rescue her from the third (or was it fourth?) cave. After you rescue her, go into the library during the mornings (between 6-9am) and talk to her and she'll give you the stone.

To propose you need only give the special item they require to them and then choose the top option, if they don't have a specific item requirement, when you talk to them you should get an option (though I never got an option for Mist for some reason after I beat the Dana mine). After a bit of small chatter the screen goes black and you instantly appear in the next day at noon for your wedding. Father White proceeds over the marriage and you say your normal vows. No wedding kiss... but I think that's a limitation of the 3d models they used as they do face each other really closely, then stand closer then most models normally do. You're then approached by everyone that you are friends with (8+ friends points) and they will offer their congratulations to you.

Before I married Rosetta for sure, I married Lapis then restarted as I didn't want to marry her, just wanted to see what the wedding was like ^_^ The major difference between the two weddings was that Rude who was happy at the Lapis wedding was crying at me and Rosetta's wedding, I'm pretty sure this is because he was my rival for Rosetta (he hung around her at her father's store quite often). He definitely mentions something about it being cruel that I'm marrying her. Then Rosetta calls him a baka, though I think it's ment to be in a teasing/cheering up way. It's really kind of cute. Anyways, I find it interesting that the rivals (if there is one) comment on the wedding like that.

Much like other harvest moon games, after the wedding is over you can talk to your wife and you get a list of options of what she'll call you... Unlock most of them though you don't also get an option to add a custom name she can call you. You have 4 choices. The choices seem to differ depending on who you propose to... I forgot to write down the choices for Lapis, but I know they were different from Rosetta, below are Rosetta's

Koji (Obviously whatever your name is)
あなた (translates more or less to Darling)
ダーりん (katakana for Darling ((pronounced Dah-reen)))
Koji* (Evil kanji it's too smooshed for me to see)

You then ask her what she wants you to call her. Rosetta told me to just call her Rosetta (with no san/chan which shows a very close connection with the person)

While I just got married to rosetta so I'm not sure what all she does during the day, I can confirm that each and every day, she has made me breakfast. I believe I noticed the same thing with Lapis, but I don't remeber (I got some item from talking with her but I don't remember if it was food). ^_^ It's a nice touch and means less cooking for yourself. Though it seems her favorite dish to make is baked corn... Been getting that a lot *laughs*

Just one question but can the girls get married to rivals? Do they even have rivals? I have a hunch they don't but I'm not sure.

And congrats on the marriage! :)

FISH FISH FISH
*laughs* You are a fishing nut aren't you? I've only just gotten my level 3 fishing rod, and that's only because I don't have a whole lot of goals now while I wait for Rosetta to become pregnant and have a child.

As for why I'm (now) on year 5 (which makes 4 years since you start on year 1 ^_^) it's because I spent a year growing those gold flowers. There was that little rumor on gamefaqs that that may be what you needed for marriage so I quickly grew them by basically doing nothing but watering those plants in the first cave for a year, then going to sleep. So now we know the flowers are a dud and I wasted a whole year <_<... Still, it's a credit to this game that it's lasted longer for me then most other HM games so far. Usually I'm bored by the 2nd or 3rd year ^_^ Still going strong right now though. Currently focusing on building up seed levels and doing a bit of weapon smithing/alchemy.

There is a list, but to tell you honestly it's almost completely unnecessary. Heart levels go up fast just by talking to the girls during the festivals. Well, except for Linnet since she doesn't participate in any festival.

From Kehdar of the gamefaqs forums, (edited by me to correct the names)
Right now I found this:

Name: Mist
Favourite: Turnip
Proposal requisite: Clear Dana cave

Name: Tabitha
Favourite: Apple, Grape, Wheat flour
Proposal requisite: 50 Tamed monsters

Name: Shalon
Favourite: Crystal (fire, water, earth etc...)
Proposal requisite: Forged Sword of Gurimoa

Name: Rosetta
Favourite: Cooked potato, Strawberry, cooked corn, hot milk
Proposal requisite: White stone

Name: Lapis
Favourite: Strawberry, pancake, french toast
Proposal requisite: Lapisazule, it's a jewel you can get from Cecilia

Name: Mei
Favourite: All fish (not lobster and wakasagi? ), Rice ball, cooked food
Proposal requisite: Catch a tokimekitai of 70 cm or more

Wow, heart points can go up just by talking to them in festivals? This game sounds easy.

When I say fast, I mean faster then by giving gifts, it still takes about a year in game to get a girl to 10 hearts.

General rule of thumb: Festivals are worth 1 full friendship point to everyone you talk to and 1/2 of a heart point for every marriable girl you talk to.

So there's only 10 heart points? That's 1/2 a festival and that means it will take only 20 festivals! And it will be quicker by giving gifts too. 10 heart/friendship points make the game sound easy.

Easier then different heart colors? grey purple blue green yellow orange red that makes for only 7 different "levels" of hearts in other harvest moon games. ^_^ I'd say that makes RF sound harder.

Yeah, but in othe HM games you don't get 1/2 a heart colour worth of points, just for talking to them in a festival.

I honestly can't say for sure which is harder, it's easier in general to raise friendship levels then in any previous harvest moon game for sure, and honestly I think it's a nice change of pace. Heart levels are, as I said before, about the same in speed to raise with the earliest you'll see a girl at full 10 hearts is probably sometime in fall (after you ask her on a date to see the stars at night most likely as that even is worth 2 hearts, though I believe you need to be at at least 5 hearts before you can ask a girl out)

It's a nice change of pace simply because the entire premise of previous harvest moon games was "The more gifts you give the more the girls like you" now it's from actually talking to them and participating in festivals with them, which is much more natural. When was the last time you gave a girl a gift every day for a year in hopes of getting her to like you?
