I hope you don't mind, but I have a tree ques. too, so I'm gonna post it here.......

okay, so I planted an orange tree some time in spring. It's now fall. The tree looks pretty big.. I mean, it has leaves.. o_o It's never had any oranges. What's the deal?!
kthxbai. ^^
------------------
CLAP YOUR HANDS!
...
STOMP YOUR FEET!
...
TURN AROUND!
...
AND TOUCH YOUR TOES!
...
PULL YOUR EARS!
...
AND FLAP YOUR WINGS!
...
NOW WE ALL FALL DOWN!

Also, I saw this on hmotaku:

Learn from your neighbors. One thing you'll notice right away about Vesta's farm is how she plants her crops: they're arranged in a checkerboard pattern. While this greatly reduces the amount of plants you can grow, it has two major advantages: they will grow faster and won't need to be watered as often. Certain crops (such as all the 3rd generation plants and sweet potatoes) can normally only be grown during one season, so I would highly reccomend planting them in a checkerboard pattern. Most other crops grow in two or more seasons, so they can be crowded together without much worry.

I still don't see why the checkerboard pattern is useful. o_o I use ALL the spaces. Help, please?
kthxbai. ^^
------------------
CLAP YOUR HANDS!
...
STOMP YOUR FEET!
...
TURN AROUND!
...
AND TOUCH YOUR TOES!
...
PULL YOUR EARS!
...
AND FLAP YOUR WINGS!
...
NOW WE ALL FALL DOWN!

I can answer that one for you i think your oranges only grow in summer but i might be wrong fruit trees are there every other season and start to get fruit the season before you can harvest them so if oranges are in summer pretty sure they are then you will see little oranges in spring.

Plus Any One can post tree questions ok i dont mind k <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

Okay then. ^^ Here's another ques. hmotaku says this about trees:

Trees
Trees can be planted at any time of year, but will take a long time until they start producing fruit. They're more expensive, too. However, you obviously get fruit from them multiple times, so they're worth it! Each tree will only produce fruit during one season each year. Do not plant any crops in the 8 spaces surrounding the trees. Doing so will kill the crops.

I planted my tree against the edge of the nonfertile field. so it's like

xxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxx
xxxxx+xxxx

with the plus symbolizing the tree or whatev. Did I kill my tree?!
kthxbai. ^^
------------------
CLAP YOUR HANDS!
...
STOMP YOUR FEET!
...
TURN AROUND!
...
AND TOUCH YOUR TOES!
...
PULL YOUR EARS!
...
AND FLAP YOUR WINGS!
...
NOW WE ALL FALL DOWN!

Alright! Here's to trees, the most wonderfully plants in the world....

Answers to questions as best as I can: You can not plant anything around a tree that would touch the base of the tree, ie, there must be one block of space left empty all the way around the tree. No crops. You should be able to walk all the way around the tree. Of course, who knows what would happen if you planted a tree in the corner of the plot... would you need the space on the sides that don't have any more dirt? Who knows? Might want to try it, and tell us what happens! But, if it is in the middle of the field, it needs one square on all sides. (When they said 8, they ment one plus one plus one... etc)

Like this: E=Empty space, T=Tree

E E E
E T E
E E E

Trees will take quite a while to mature, as in real life: sometimes over a year! They will only produce in one season of each year, but you get multiple year's life out of them. So plant them early, and leave them. They'll pay off later. Don't worry! You're oranges are fine.
Once you can accept the universe as matter expanding into nothing that is something, wearing stripes with plaid comes easy.
--Albert Einstein

The pink one knows no fear...

I love deadlines. Can you only harvest the tree's fruit ONCE in it's season? or does it grow back during the 10 day period?

How can you tell when a tree is full grown?
kthxbai. ^^
------------------
CLAP YOUR HANDS!
...
STOMP YOUR FEET!
...
TURN AROUND!
...
AND TOUCH YOUR TOES!
...
PULL YOUR EARS!
...
AND FLAP YOUR WINGS!
...
NOW WE ALL FALL DOWN!

You can get about 24 fruit per tree when it's producing during the season. There's no problems with planting trees along the sides of fields, and they can grow in any one of the 3 fields.

E E E E E E E
E T E T E T E
E E E E E E E
E T E T E T E
E E E E E E E

^ This is how I plant my trees. The only problem with planting the trees to take advantage of space is it's difficult to see the ground between all the leaves You can shake the trees to let the fruit drop off (and it helps to start new fruit growth during the season) but you have to keep an eye on your A button when trying to pick it up off the ground. When you get close to a fruit on the ground even though you can't see it through all the follage, the A button will change to "Pick Up" (or something like that).

i plant all my crops and trees in the fertile soil. I place one spot in between each tree. I plant my crops like two spaces down from them. I do my crops verticalas weel since it makes it so your crops don't dry out so fast. I got my trees in spring too and now it is summer of the first year in chapter two and they are finally giving fruit
People who sin say this, "that they had to, to survive." People who sin say this, "it's to late to stop." The shadow called sin dogs them steadily without a word. Remorse and agony are repeated to finally end up at despair, but sinners don't know that if they turn around there is a light, a light which keeps shining on them ever so warmly. you have to fertilize 28-30 times to upgrade a tree, and i think you can only do it 1/yr, i havn't accually put this into practice, but i read it on HMOTAKU
