If I recall correctly, ten アダマンタイト/Adamantyte are needed per maker. バルバリ/Barubari tells you, "地下25階では、「アダマンタイト」がよく見つかるらしいぜ。" meaning to look in the mine floor 25 to find the ore easily.
Edit: Edited to say "find on floor 25 easily" rather than "starting at floor 25" -- thanks faery, I was in a hurry at the time and didn't bother to actually read it. I had written out the post then copy&pasted in the dialogue afterwards =P

25階では、「アダマンタイト」がよく見つかるらしいぜ
it exactly means : you can find easily adamantites at floor 25 .

there's always 4 to 7 of them on the 25th floor, and from 26 to 49, one on each floor, same with 51 to 74

More presisely this one -> 品質上昇装置
Hinshitsu Joushou Souchi... Quality-raising device? Anyone know what it does? Raise the quality of whatever you put in it?

Yes, it raises the quality of things that you put in. You can put items into this machine (like you put something into your fridge or shelf) and then during the next days/weeks the quality increases (but very, very, very slowly)

Then comes the big question... is it worth 5 extremely big ones and 20 hours in the mine?

The japanese wiki mentions that 1 year = 1 rank rise.

I'm rather disappointed. Before I bought the machine I thought I can throw an item into the machine and get an S-rank item back. I didn't expect something like this for so much money.

Why was my post locked?
There are several reasons why a post would be locked.
- Past the 10-day window: Topics are concidered completed if no one has responded to it within 10 days of the last post. If you "bump" a topic that is past the 10 day grace period the topic will be locked, and you will most likely receive a warning. The 10-day limit is also documented on your welcome email.
This topic is 9 months old. Making a new one would of been more appropriate. Old topics don't always have accurate information.
The basic makers (cheese, mayo, seed, etc.) take 10 adamantite each. The thresher (for rice) and flour mill are 20 adamantite. The quality upgrader needs 100 adamantite.
(Goran tells you this when you click on the maker name from his building inventory. It appears on the top screen along with the cost.)
