I haven't played a lot in my DS version, so I don't have any animals yet. However, in my FOMT version I named my chickens after months (April, June, May, etc.), my cows flowers, and my horse and dog spices.

Ducks:
Snuff, Booboo, Snooky, and Wanker.
Cows:
Edge, SeanM. (yeah, I know that's not the right spelling. ><), SCSA, and Mr...K.
Sheepys:
Kane, Sting, UnderT, Sabu.
I shoulda switched the names of the cows w/ the names of the sheep but I bought the cows first and forgot about all the good guys. XD
EDIT: Forgot my other animals. My dog's name is Derek (after my fiancee), my cat's name is Rabble (after my kitten), and my horses's name is Shwing. :D
