This is why I can't stand fishies. As long as Celia does not have higher than a blue heart for you and you are in the second year or later, you cn activate the rival event.

This is why I can't stand fishies. As long as Celia does not have higher than a blue heart for you and you are in the second year or later, you cn activate the rival event.

It DOES sound like a glitch to me :3

Wow, that's weird, but remember, the rivals cannot get married until year 4, so you're safe 'til then. Just make sure you don't go to the area where the next rival event takes place.
