I can't get the fishing rod!

Okay so I've tried on several different occasions to get the fishing rod from Galen between noon and 2 PM on saturday. I have NOTHING equipped in any of my colored slots and the event still won't activate. Is there something else I'm missing like a certain year, weather, or season?

I think sombody asked this before.

The Fishing Pole is acquired from Galen. Visit his house when he is inside on a Saturday between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm. He will give you his old Fishing Pole at the beginning standard level. Make sure that you don't have anything equipped in the colored slots of your Rucksack else you won't activate the event.

Okay. I've had this experience myself... and all you gotta do... at least it worked for me... is talk to them for a moment.
Talk to them until they start repeating their quote. then try it. That's what i did, and it worked. Best of luck to ya'

OH! and make sure that both of them are inside. else it won't work!

Have you introduced yourself and talked to both Galen and Nina? I think tht may be a factor. I don't know, because I was late on getting my fishing rod,and by the time I did, I was already friends with both. Hmm.

Okay, so I talked to both Galen and Nina til they didn't have anything new to say, left the house, came back in and it worked 0.o I'm not sure why that made a difference but thanks for your help! ^_^

Ahhh it happened to me too when i strarted a new game...
I couldn't get the fishing rod in Spring but as soon as summer came i went there and got the fishing rod...
