confused about fodder

so...the whole fodder growth and collection. Can someone set me straight? I read on the sight that the number of fodder you get is the number of barns x the amount of fodder collected. So, for example, you have one 3x3 patch of grass, if you harvest that and you have 13 barns you would get 117?
