As the title asks, did previous assumptions and ideas of Rune Factory change after getting the game? This can be answered by anyone. JP owners or NA owners~

I know for one mine did. <3

1. I was planning on marrying Felicity/Melody/Linette (Im indecisive like that). But since I started playing, my fancy has been going to Rosetta (one of the girls whom I did not care for) and Lara (she was so-so on my bachelorette list). Felicity has dropped near to the bottom and Melody went to the so-so category. Im only in the beginning of the game so I have yet to experience Linette's personality.

2. I figured the time sequence would be as horrible as previous Harvest Moon games. The day in HM goes by too fast; catching fish takes FOREVER, watering one patch of crop can take 10 minutes, and so forth... But in RF, I can enjoy my day. Catching alot of fish, watering multiple crops, take a trip to the cave, and still have loads of time to harass the fellow villagers is a blast.

3. Like all HM games, you can forage for junk through out the village and give it as gifts to the villagers and the local hot chicks to make people like you. I assumed it would be the same for RF. *WRONG* I personally find it difficult to raise LP/FP since I cant butt-kiss with loads of goodies. Maybe when Im rich enough to spoil those high maintenance girls I will, but so far Im pinching every penny/crop/fish/junk iron I get. From threads on this forum, Im assuming the best way to win people over is by talking to them on special days...

Well I do not know. I was expecting maybe a bit too much. I was expecting better textures for the chracter, better music quality (actually i was hoping you could wear some armor too but aw well) I was planning on marrying Mei and now after playing I am still after her. Also I was planing on going after Sharon and Tori and still am. I guess I was bullseye on the choices of the girl. Lol. I never had problem with time on previews harvest moons. The worst harvest moon I played was on N64 and didn;t liek it cause day was passing really fast. Afar from that I was never bothered much. As for making people like you, I think its pretty easy since no one is pushing you to hurry and make them like you.

Overall I didnt have high expectations for RF since its a DS game. The only game Ive known where you can wear different armor was Radiata Stories.

Atleast you are still after the girls your were originally going for. ^^ I was pretty dissapointed by Felicity and Melody is starting to grow on me again. If Linette is too hard for me, I want to marry Rosetta, but there is that rumor of the Winter Cave glitch =(

I just want people to like me haha. I wonder if their sayings change when you raise more affection.

Lol yes! Exactly! Radiata Stories. Actually Tales of the World for PSP is exactly like radiata stories! Ahhh nice game.

As for the girls I guess I was lucky. If i was you I would go for Lynette. Mei that I am wooing is very hard too but I like her a lot. Also as I know the only thing you have to do with the Winter Cave glitch is avoid it. >>

I figured it would be a hassle to befriend everyone, considering how hard-to-get most of the things they like are - but at Spring 25, I have one girl (Melody) up to five friend and two love points (Apparently she is absolutely OVERJOYED that I bathe every day...), three other girls at three friend and one love point, and most of the rest of the village at two friend points. (Mei and I think Zavier are only at one point because I can never FIND Mei.)

And that's really just from chatting! I think I've given away three gifts; two turnips (sorry, RADISH) to Mist and one strawberry to Lara.

I was afraid it would try to hard to be too much and end up being not much of anything, but so far it's really lived up to the Harvest Moons of the past. In fact, it's the best recent one, I think.

I also thought that Lynette was the only girl worth going for, but I've fallen for Sharron and Tabatha. I'm still planning to wait until Lynette moves in and I can see what she's like, but if she doesn't measure up I have some backup choices. :3

Oh, and when I first started I heard the talking and went 'Noooo!' because really, when does THAT ever work out? (See Magical Melody - my choice of husbands went from four to one because the others sounded like morons.) But it turns out that in this case it works very well, and all the voices are good to great.

Oh, and I also enjoy being able to do a bunch of stuff in one day. Usually I go to bed at like 8 PM because I've run my character into the ground with farming, exploring, chopping wood and pestering all the villagers. XD

Wetwall: I have never played a PSP in my life so I have no idea D': Its a shame so many cute RPGs are for PSP. Lynette has a certain appeal so I still want her but Mei, although extremely cute, has not won me over. Shes too much work.

Morigale: How did you do that?! I talk to certain people several times a day, bathe everyday *I atleast want one easy girl to like me* but I got a full screen of 0s. Is it because Im only on Year 1, Spring 11? « Harvest Goddess »..I swear I talk to people 5 times a day. Special people I talk 5 times then go outside, come back in and then talk 5 more times. Maybe im doing something wrong...

25th Spring, so you have went to 2 festivals already
most of those FP come from Festival, i believe
while Jyuran is still in 11st Spring, you havent go to any festivals yet, have you?

i never bother talk to townspeople, well maybe once per day and thats it

but i always talk to them in festivals, and sometimes gives away strawberry to Lara, Rosetta, Torte, Nicholl and Lukas (yeah, strawberries farmer, whole kamait cave full of them <_<)
most of them are already 10 FP in early fall

First festival coming up in a week yaaaaay~ Im fishing like crazy + growing lots of crops so I can save up for chocolate.

im originally wants to marry Sharon and Rosetta, but after played the game i decided to marry Mei and Lynette
I still like Sharon and Rosetta, of course
and Lapis was just so-so and not my type before, but i like her now because she got a beautiful hair, i like her esp in wedding pics

Don't bother on buying the chocolate - it seems like a misprint in the festivals section, because when I talked to Mist that day she said it was a day to give out cookies or chocolate cookies, so plain chocolate probably wouldn't do much good.

Yes, most of the friend points do seem to come from festivals. Every festival day I run around and talk to people; when I entered the egg festival (and the day before was sunny! Although two days before, it rained) I talked to everyone twice because I figured since they were all saying something new (I lost. XP) it might count.

I usually only talk to people about three times, except only once on festivals because they never say anything new.

My only complaint is that all the characters, when not in a 2d text animation, look like odd disfigured humans. You can't tell who is who just by looking at them in 3-D. They also tend to resemble monkeys with there arms out so much.

lol yeah i agree with you demosthenes

i was entering egg from Neumann's farm to in my 1st egg festival, and i got the 3rd prize XD
my bro cheating and ask me to sent him Big Egg to his own data, and he won, of course <_<

i wish that...we can fight with another player via wifi, that would be cool
or special dungeon for multiplayer purpose

Yes the charactors do look odd... I think they may have been made with the same engine that was used for "TAO: curse of the demon seal" looks like it anyway. At least the backgrounds are gorgeous... I just ignore the 3D characters and gawk at the backgrounds.

As far as pre-conceptions go.... I was trying not to get my hopes up too much lest I be dissapointed (Like i was with HMDS) but this game has re-kindled my interest in the harvest moon series.
I was very pleasantly suprised with how fluid the character moves and I love that stuff can actually be done without too much hassle. Instead of just mining, or farming, or fishing in one day I can do all of it... its great.

The only problem I have(and its minor) is that the tool animations look a bit 'floppy' I mean how can you cut wood with any accuracy when you twist the axe at the very end of the animation... looks like the main character has rubber arms. And while produce is as big as half of you(so you can see it presumably) it also goes through the character.... the polygons mesh so you get a wierd strawberry/Raguna hybrid... but I didnt like the character model to begin with anyway.

Still pursuing Sharron.

Myself, I always tend to expect the worst in a game, and end up pleasantly surprised. RF I was looking forward to, but it being only the second in such an odd take on the HM series, I had doubts. Now, I dub it the most fun I've had in a HM since FoMT/MFoMT. I *like* that you can't just give presents everyday and easily raise hearts. It always struck me as so artificial to say 'Oh, I gave you a grape everyday for a year. Marry me?' Actually talking to them on special days seems a tad more in the realistic direction.

It also frees me up to not run around town everyday with a sack full of random things to hand out.

I *love* that the days are so much longer than before. I often run out of things to do before 5, and while that does happen on other HM games, it usually doesn't happen until I'm 3 years in. But in this I've watered, cut wood, fished up a nice ton of money... and still it's not late. Love that.

My bachelorette choice may or may not have shifted. From the beginning I was looking to Felicity or Sharon, and while I've focused more on Felicity, Sharon isn't out of the running completely yet. None of the other girls really strike me, save perhaps Mei, but not enough to trade a fish all day.
