hammer?

i have the harvet moon guide to this game and i was following it on how to get the hammer. only problem is, Xavier won't give it to me. I tilled and planted in 6 different fields. I have done so in 54 squares. can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong

Zavier doesn't give you the hammer. You get the hammer after you till 50 squares inside Carmite. Speak to the blacksmith to get it.

it honestly isnt to hard to get, but it lowers your rune points like crazy

Yep, it sure does. Level it up to 2 as quickly as you can so you can get Silver from Carmite. It sells for 400g a pop and it's needed for the Lion Watercan.
