I know I'm probably not qualified to answer this since I don't know « Puppy Doodoo » about the Japanese language but If they have an understanding of the language well enough then for them it is just like playing the English game

Yes, for some people it's like a normal game. Some people here like Myah understand Japanese enough that they can play the games and understand what's going on from the text. Other people, like Chris, don't know much Japanese but still get by perfectly fine once they've memorized most of the important characters and places in the text.
