I Was thinking about getting this game in Japanese and i was wondering if i could still play the game w/o knowing how to read japanese? or does it make it extremely more difficult if you can't read it?

It's pretty easy, all the stuff you buy has pictures of what the item is, and I got through it just fine. You may need to refer to the Translation Guide by Myah every once in a while, but you get the hang of it pretty fast.

Really I'd recommend waiting a while to get the full enjoyment of the game, if you can't read japanese... But if you know a little like, Hi, Goodbye, How are you, That's pretty. I'd say you're fine

Then again I'm too lazy to be looking through translation guides trying to figure out what is going on.

A DS is regionless
so it can play any game from anywhere in the world.

I would posit that PlayAsia is very expensive. I just purchased the Japanese version on eBay for $29. :\ So ... go for eBay, if you can? PlayAsia also has frequent problems with credit cards (for me, anyway) and their shipping is just as expensive as the typical eBay seller.
