Can anyone tell me how pictures or screenshots are put on to your computer? Do you need a Very Bad Thing™ or something?

yes, or you need one of those picture taking things for the GBA. I guess you could try using like a digital camera, but I doubt it'll work very well, so it's those two options, that Very Bad Thing or the picture taking thing for GBA.

well, it's just this thing that we used to call it back when we used EZboards because they didn't allow talk about Very Bad Things™ and stuff.

Buuuuuuuut isn't it allowed to have the Very Bad Thing™ of a game you own as a safety copy? (As if someone had something to copy it on a cartridge...)

No, you're not supposed to have Very Bad Things™ even if you own the game. Since it's in the cartridge's "read-only memory," it can't be deleted anyway - so there's no need for a backup.
