Cartredge... the little things you put in the back of the gameboys, you know? How do you think they keep their save data? They need a tiny source of power. And eventually, that runs down. How do you think that some games have an internal clock that keeps going no matter wheather the game is on or not? They usually design it so that when the game boy is turned on, it charges the battery up, but long periods of inactivity (like, decades) may lose the saved data.
But I wouldn't pay money for a game backer upper... I mean, it would be nice, but... its just a game, right? If you mess up, you start again! Part of the fun. But that's just me.

But I like being able to play anywhere. I play on my SP and back it up to my computer, and then I can play it on the computer or just copy the save file a thousand times.HMKing16 wrote:I just stick with the old emulator. Save the game for real and save the game state 10 times in different slots. 11 backups.
I think the battery is reliable for about seven years. (or so it says on the Gameboy Colour games: "01-08" it says on the battery... I think it means it was installed in 2001 and will last till about 2008)
GBA games might last longer. I have no idea. The technology being more recent and more advanced etc.
I have a backup device. It's only a $10,00 cable (bought it second hand, so I don't know where to get it, sorry
) which links my gameboy to the USB port so I can exchange my savegames with my computer.
It does not like FoMT though O_o It simply doesn't see any savegames so I can't exchange them >_< That's annoying.
