Oh I see. The only major glitch I had was freezing, but that only happened once and I saved not so long ago. And can't you just import from America? (Lucky, my American copy was in Europe and when I got it I was like "What the…?)

the major glitches that people find discouraging are not being able to marry the h. goddess or w. princess. some people don't like that the shearers don't level and others don't like that the milking glitch and shearing glitch was fixed. it doesn't render the game unplayable, it just changes the nature of the game.

LilithLilith wrote:Are you supposed to be able to buy more than one DVD? I've only ever been able to buy the one. I never watched it, so that may be why. Isn't it just a picture without words anyway?
On Winter, Year 1 of HMDS and Spring, Year 2 of Cute, I have My Dear Princess, Mechabot Ultror and Beginning Farm Life available or already bought. I've only gotten one episode of each one, though. The site says the selection in the American versions is severely limited, so maybe there aren't any more. But the longer you play, the more you're supposed to have access to.

Strange, I was able to marry the Goddess and Witch. And I didn't use Action Replay etc. And I agree with you; the glitches can put you off, but at least it's playable.

Well, at least your glitch free. There's so many problems with the american one.
Although it would stink to have no records or Cute...
The DVDs stink anyways so I don't think that matter much XD.
The hell?

I live in Europe and I managed to get an American one, and it was almost glitch-free. Unless there's two or something out…

There is another version in America, it is almost glitch free.

But yeah not able to get Cute sucks, I love Cute I feel it is better than the boy version, but I'm a girl and the girl version is much less glitchy.

I just got a scene in Cute where Gotz came to tell me he'd demolished my bird shed, and the round shadow was there, and my character kind of tipped her head toward it, and then it walked away, but there was no Gotz, so I checked to see if it was something new and undiscovered (unlikely) and found a thread from 2006 about the same thing happening in the Japanese version of HMDS. That's the only specific one I can think of at the moment, but I know there were others. I don't think it's Marvelous's fault that the games are so glitchy; the errors seem to be introduced in localization by Natsume, and I think I read somewhere that Rising Star uses the NA version that Natsume has already botched up to make the European games.

It's like that game where you whisper something to someone, and she whispers it to the next person, and the story goes on down the line until at the end, it doesn't sound much like it started out. Or the story I read once about how one woman was given the responsibility of making copies of some Little League pictures for the whole team. If she'd taken the original and made a copy for each person, all of them would have been good quality. Instead, she took the original, made one copy, and then made a copy of the original, took the new copy and made another one, etc. By the time she got to the last one, you could barely recognize the people in the picture because each one was slightly imperfect, plus it had all the imperfections of the preceding copies. If that makes sense.

oh wow, I didn't know that. That's very interesting. I guess it makes a certain kind of sense: they dont have to go through the translation process again. Maybe they'll learn from their mistakes? and try to centralize the process?

I think the reason it came up was because somehow it came out that some folks over at Rising Star don't speak Japanese. (I'm not entirely sure some of the translators for Natsume speak English, either, which is a bit more of a problem.) It's probably easier to translate the NA game into European languages because most of them use the same alphabet and there's no country in Europe that uses Japanese characters. (I don't read Japanese myself, but I can recognize a few words if they're written in the English-language alphabet.)

I don't really know, either, why they don't have it all centralized. It seems to me like it would be easier and more cost-effective to just send some of the Marvelous employees to classes to learn the languages they localize into, since the DS is region-free and I read awhile back that in a few more years television consoles like the Wii will be, too. (Not that that's an excuse. Nintendo of America consistently puts out high-quality stuff, roughly on schedule, with no Engrish or glitches.)
