Yes, yes they are. I liked how they wouldn't grow over tilled soil in Harvest Moon 3 - that made it so much easier to keep your farm looking nice. Just hoe it all up...

Next to AWL, and FoMT, GBC3 was the best HM... Lets have a moment of silence for the game.....

If you overlook the game FoMT is based on - Back to Nature.
That's another way to do it (keep weeds from coming) - fill in empty spaces with grass. But that's much more expensive than tilling.
