The sock hangs up on the hook in your house by the mirror and TV, and you get it from being friends and giving a yarn ball to Ellen. Be sure you want the sock in the first place, 'cause it's not that pretty and once it's there, you can never take it down. The mayor comes at year end to give you a present that he sneaks in the sock.... 'tis all.
Basically you see yourself going to bed. The next day you have something in the sock, although if you never check the sock at all, by next year, the mayor will come back to give you a present and when he sees you didn't even get your last present, he gets mad and grumbles something about - why should he even bother giving you presents or something like that....

I don't see why people always blame stuff they don't understand on their "Very Bad Things." I've never had a problem with any of the "Very Bad Things" I've had. It's when you use cheats that you run into problems...
I just forgot about it. The same way I didn't check my mailbox everyday and got a whole bunch of mail on my birthday. I guess I was just too busy trying to marry the Goddess
