i was just wondering how good of a friend or how many times a guys speach has to change to even tiger the first rival heart event? and so on and so forth.

It really depends who the rival is... for me it was easiest to see Kai's events 'cause I befriended him early (Summer, First Year). The rival events will change depending on the girl's heart color, and by the fourth year, the girls get married off, so be sure to marry your girl early before the fourth year, instead of just concentrating on seeing the rival events, otherwise, the only girl left for you will be the Goddess and she's weird 'cause *spoiler - stop reading if you don't want a spoiler*... anywho, let's just say, the Goddess leaves you for her pond after marriage.
