He's important if you want to get the seed maker for free. If you befriend him he'll give it to you and save you 6000 G. Otherwise, he's just an extra crazy Harvest Moon character.

Daryl likes fish, eggs, and old coins. Keep giving him that and enter his lab before he comes out to sneak around, which is around 6??? Anyway, he'll look through a window to his backroom and say people keep stealing his idea. Then he'll put it in your tool shed for you ^^
