You put a crop in the seed maker and it gives you two bags of seeds of that crop. You can either buy it for 6,000 G or befriend Daryl and he'll give it to you in Chapter 2.

You make a salad with just a ruby spice, and put it back, and then you have 2. Keep going till you have 99, and then sell 98 of them for 9,800 G.
