All my animals are fine... and they've NEVER been outdoors.shadedgrey63 wrote:No, I did take care of the calf (I meant that I'd only milked the adults...I took care of my little calf). I'm not sure if outside time is "needed", as my cows were all completely stress-free for a good chunk of time.

Every time I do the mini-game, I do it as fast as I can, but I always get 'end'. How can I get to 'finish'? Faster? A kind of pattern? Any particular spots? Thank you ^_^Moeru wrote:I guess petting animals raises their heart stats, but is there any benefit to doing it quickly or not? Is there any penalty for clicking "End" before it says FINISH?

I'm feeling slightly confused, and I think this is the only way I can get another opinion about the game since nobody I know around here has played the game yet.
I'm considering restarting my game. I'm already in Winter Year 1 and I only have the first bridge. My house is upgraded, I have a fridge and a kitchen, and one indigo wonderful I won at a festival. That's pretty much it. I tried to keep crops but they all died. I really don't think I'm as far in the game as I should be in the first year. I don't have the fishing rod. It took me all of fall to save up for the bridge.
I feel really dumb, and not accomplished.
So I guess my first question would be: Do you think I should restart my game?
And also: Is Winter really this boring?
Thanks.

^ As part of the rule, we're not allowed to tell you what you should do because it's your game and ultimately you should make the choice. Besides, just because you haven't accomplished certain things, you've still got time to upgrade the town, etc. As for taking care of your crops, I recommend you refer to the water/light crop guide that is a sticky on this board. It's a really helpful guide.
lol, I ask a lot of questions, but I need to cuz I am an uber « n3w farm3r ». Thanks again to those who have answered my questions!
Question: How long does it take for a chick to grow into a chicken? Does it depend on the stress level, food, etc.? I think my chick is almost 2 weeks old and it keeps stressing out (while my first chick grew into a chicken a week later). I heard that a chick doesn't eat chicken feed, so I didn't bother doing anything about its hunger (what else could I do? Or was that a big mistake?).
Additional note: is there anyway to lower a chick's high stress level? The animal petting games don't often show up for that chicky. x_x

Winter is the best time for foraging. Just chop all the wood you can find (I pick it all up and carry it back to my field, toss it all on the ground and chop there. It saves running.) and pick all the grass and stones. It's the best time for fishing too.rainkisses wrote:I'm feeling slightly confused, and I think this is the only way I can get another opinion about the game since nobody I know around here has played the game yet.

If you don't have the rod, talk to Taro for about 3 or 4 days, on the 5th day start giving him gifts such as weeds. Check the main site for his likes and dislikes. Pick up and ship everything you can carry. For the first 3 seasons I shipped everything I could get my hands on, I literally survived on weeds.
Also in winter you can do the Chen's Shop Wonderfuls Trick (check main site) and since you're not fishing you might have time to restart several times until you can buy a bunch of wonderfuls.
