I can chop a tree but cannot for the life of me figure out how to chop the log lying on the ground....lmao...I have tried everything...help!

But to get wood to upgrade your house don't you have to chop it?

If it's a tree or stump. But if it already looks like what you get from chopping trees, pick it up and it'll go with the rest of your lumber.

Hold C and go to to the "Status" page, it'll list lumber, fodder, stone and feed.

At the far northeast end of the Ganache area, there will be a tiny little forest place. You can activate Luke's intro scene there.

You get stone material from breaking those large boulders on the farm plots.
And yea, in the lil forest place is correct, but make sure you've met Dale in the Carpenter's place first. ^^
