Have you ever made a mistake when you just started out with HM, that you now look back and laugh?

I know I have. A couple of years ago, I played my first Harvest Moon game, Magical Melody. And I was trying to plant a crop, but didn't know about tilling and seeds and stuff. What I did was, take a whole ear of corn, and just put it on the ground! And when it started disappearing, I thought that was just the crop going into the soil. I watered it for a couple days, and noticed it didn't grow. Then my brother told me that you had to TILL the soil. So I did that, bought another ear of corn, and placed the corn on the tilled square.

Hah. It didn't grow again. Then, finally, I was introduced to the concept of SEEDS. XD

I wasn't even new to HM when this happened, which actually makes it even more pathetic...

In MM, for the first few days I went around giving people weeds.

Because they're so plain in other games and so pretty in MM -_-;; I thought they were flowers.

xD Well, I wasted my potato seeds in TOT because I couldn't figure out how to plant them. I thought it was still the classic 3 by 3 bit. This troubled me for about a month. ._.

Also, in MFoMT I threw an egg in the Kappa Pond 'cuse I thought it was the Goddess Spring, and I thought she would grant wishes like she did in 64. xD

When I first started, I thought that one bag of chicken feed would feed the entire coop and I did not know the boxes were where you were supposed to throw the feed so I'd just get near the chickens and use it. After one of the chickens died did I figure out how to feed them. T_T Poor chicken.

I don't think it was a stupid mistake, but I said the wrong thing to Owen on our lunch date. He asked me if I felt like everyone was looking at us, and the two options were "I don't care!" and "I'm a little self-conscious." I picked "I don't care!" thinking it was brave and kinda cute. Owen got mad at me and said he was trying to be a gentleman. I was upset about that for a few days. =(

When I was just starting though, I did the SAME thing as Replica. Tilled every single square. And yes, I got angry too when weeds grew in.

Anyway. I didn't really care that I got it wrong because I didn't want to have romantic relations with him but regardless, I was so confused when he reacted badly toward the answer. XD

I remember when I played HM64. I was wondering why I couldn't buy any animals.

It wasn't until right before they booted me out of town that you had to talk to the person on the other side of the counter. XD

I totally messed up my first potatoes in ToT, since I didn't know about the 1x6 thing <.<
Also, when I was getting married to Jin, I avoided Anissa, but one day I accidentally talked to her and she went up to three hearts, and every time I walked in the clinic, they had that stupid scene, so I booked it to get that blue feather, even though I didn't want to get married yet, I was so upset.

when i first played, i hated the game becaue it had pink trees.


ah... the wonders of the mind of a 7 year old.


that's about it for memorable stupid mistakes... i am sure that i have done plenty, though. XD



as for tilling your whole farm, that used to do that, but that was in SNES where weeds wouldn't grow on tilled soil. i liked to get the entire farm cleared and tilled the first night... very difficult, seeing as the farm is rather large in that game (and if you planted it all, you wouldn't have any time to harvest it!), but i still liked to. it used to be perfectly normal to till your entire farm.

In BTN I thought a red heart meant they were ready to get married to you. Now, I did all the work you have to do to get married plus raise her heart level, and at that age, if I had to do work in a video game, I'd just stop playing. So when I was rejected I was outrageously pissed off. Then I got to the event where she tells you she was the little girl.. and then proposed.. yeah.. I'm thankful the only one who saw me go through that was my mommy. :<

Also, in ToT, when Chase finally got there, he wasn't coming to work for days in a row. At the time I wasn't aware that they don't go to work when it's storming, so I thought my game glitched or something and I'd never see him again. e.e

When I first played AnWL I was so concerned with my crops that I forgot all about my cow. Then one day I got the info that the cow was dead. I was so crushed. Then my cousin wouldn't stop giving me « Cow Poopoo » about it.

Eons ago, when Harvest Moon first came out (the SNES version), my brother and I played the game all the way through without ever realising how to upgrade your house; "the carpenters LIVE in that tree??" Haha, tiny children should not play Harvest Moon.

My first Harvest mon was DS. I fell in love with celia. I thought she was the cutest thing ever. So, in order to get her to like me, I would spam her with gifts every day of just absolutly random things. xD I did not realize that only one gift a day counted. Looking back at it now, I was being so stupid. Then, I remember I was getting pissed off because she hadn't gone up a heart in a full 3 years. I was litering. D: Thank goodness for Ushi. I finnaly got the concept of these games. xD Damn you Sara, for not telling me anything about them before you made me buy them....

When I was starting out in HMDS I would give Lumina 10 or so gifts a day. And the I would litter whenever I didn't want something... basically what Sakuranbo_Kunoichi said except I only did it for a half a year in game.
