Okay, i'm in Winter of my first year, and i'm having trouble with growing the Seedling of Hope. I checked over at GameFaqs, and it said that you needed to have 50 hearts total with the villagers.

Does that mean I have to have a heart with EVERYONE, or can the hearts you accumulated with the bachelors/bachelorettes count?

For instance, I have Chase at nine hearts, Jin at nine hearts, and Luke at seven hearts. Would that count as 25 hearts then?

yes. non-marriageable candidates and wild animals count as well. if you go to the tree, it will tell you how many "points" you have. The tree will only grow one stage per night.

Actually when I grew the seedling I didn't have the needed fifty hearts (i'm counting humans and animals) and the tree still grew in the four days that it is supposed to if you have 50. I had maybe 40 hearts tops.
