Demon Star, Chapter 1 The darkness enshadowing him was perfect. Beruga stood there for a moment, basking in the silent evil pervading the world around him. His face showed a quick smile, and he turned to the large capsule attached to a nearby wall. The liquids inside churned and swirled, speaking of the activity within. After a moment of furious action, two thin, silver eyes turned to watch him. Beruga laughed, a harsh barking sound which echoed through the room. He turned back to the console at his side. "Quit your struggles, Dante. It does not befit you." The eyes tracked the scientists every movement. Another laugh. "Embrace your power. Asmodeus give's you life.." With a start, the console came to life, humming with energy. Lights flickered across the panels, taking readings, reporting them, and maintaining systems. Beruga brought his hand slowly across the machine. "Status report." The computer spoke in a harsh, metal voice. "Signs: Normal per system. Processes: Full speed." Beruga awaited the words, and they came. "Body reconstruction: Seventy-eight percent." A smile. Beruga touched the panel. "Confirmed. Body reconstruction halted. Program destroyed." The silver eyes were wide with fear. Or perhaps anger. Beruga chortled. "Yes, Dantes, I give you your body back." He watched the half-hidden form in the cloudy capsule. "But no-one will think you human." The capsule began to shake, and the eyes gazed about wildly. "Such a thing fits you, as the immortal son of Asmodeus." He turned to the waiting form. "Solar." The robot strode forward, it's silver limbs shining bright. Beruga smiled darkly. "Load the capsule onto the airship. Prepare for our leave." And each metal sound of the robot's steps towards the capsule made the silver eyes grow with, this time unmistakbly, fear...... * Solar reached towards the console, his hinges groaning. Sparks flew from the wires around him, striking his body. It would take all his force to reach it.... "Solar." The robot looked up, but long ago it's sight had gone. He felt arms, human arms, strong, picking him up. He twisted, but a single hand on his rusted chest calmed him. "Look up," The voice said, in melodious, yet dark tones. "Look to the faces of your master." And Solar saw.......
