Go to Gotz's house on a Sunday between 10am and 1pm. When you enter the house you'll see Harris and Gotz talking to each other. Harris says all is peacefull in Mineral Town and Gotz says the Mountain is peacefull as well. Harris says that it should be him patrolling the Mountain and not Gotz, but Gotz has more experience with the area than he does. Harris says it's been a while since Gotz's wife and daughter died up on the Mountain. Gotz goes quiet for a bit, but then says if he can try to keep it safe on the Mountain maybe his family can rest better.
