Part 4: Kokonatsu Village

The Weasels Backtrack out of the 3rd door and up the path to the 4th area. You will come across a set of weasels blocking the path. The grandpa weasel won't let you pass down the road until you pay his toll. He wants you to get a Koi for him before he will move out of the way. If you talk to Kikku he will suggest the two of you head back to Nushikiri Village.

If you check up on Hatsune while you're back at Nushikiri you'll learn that her mother is not well. If you go and tell Gonsaku he will volunteer to go to their house to help out. Gonsaku will also talk about the cliff by his house.

North of Gonsaku's house is a little platform where you can use your Rope, just like when you were in Coldpack. At the top of the cliff you'll find a pond to fish in. You will find Snakehead, Catfish, and the Koi swimming around in the water. If you want you can "swim" down the waterfall instead of using the Rope to get back to the bottom of the cliff. You will only take about 30 damage from the fall.

Take the Koi back to grandpa weasel. He will move out of the way so you can continue onto the next village. If you take the south road after you pass the weasel you'll find grandma weasel at the end. Search her feet for a Green Forest Nut.

When you first enter Kokonatsu, the Hyper Baron will appear, suggesting that you can buy fish in this village. Since they speak the opposite of the truth, he means you can't sell any fish in this area.

Rao and his Sister Kokonatsu is split into two sections; the eastern half is a farming community while the western half rely on fishing. All of the women in the fishing section are unhappy, including a little boy who is standing on the dock. His name is Rao and he appears to be yelling out to his "brother" out on the lake asking him if he left in his canoe. His sister walks up and yells at him for wanting to ride in his brother-in-law's canoe. Rao is trying to tell his sister that her husband is in the lake and everyone should go and help, but she doesn't believe him.

Back at their house, Rao's sister explains that her husband is most likely dead. His passing means that Rao has no opportunity to fish. Near Rao's house is an old woman who explains that women are highly regarded in their village. Now that all of the men are gone they are not sure how they are going to get food. There is one man left though but he is the saddest one of them all since his wife died. Kikku believes you two need to somehow get the women some food.

Angus the hermit Head down to the isolated shack west of the entrance to Kokonatsu. A man will come to the door and mistakes you for a ghost since all of the men are "dead". Kikku explains that you are there to help them, but the sight of a talking squirrel causes the poor fellow to laugh and smile. He introduces himself as Angus and invites you into his little house.

Angus explains that he doesn't have much food and it would even be good if he died tomorrow! Talk about a depressing fellow! He doesn't know anything about Rao's brother-in-law and he wants nothing to do with it. Angus then kicks you out of his house.

For some reason Kikku says Angus smells just like Shizuki, the Shaman from Nushikiri Village, but he doesn't believe the Angus is Shizuki's brother. The two of you need his canoe to get out onto the lake anyway! Maybe the other villagers can tell you a way to persuade him to cooperate.

In the farming district you'll find out that Angus' son Keto was one of the men who disappeared while fishing for the village. The farmer with the red apron was once good friends with Angus. He says they had a fight after Angus' wife died. He'll help you out but only if you can get him a Bighead Carp. You can easily find them around the dock where you first met Rao. Bring him back the carp and he'll then ask you for an Aouo! You can catch that fish around the huts in the fishing section. Bring the fish back to him and he'll leave to go and talk to Angus.

Gouka appears Walk back to Angus' house. He says his friend is persistent and he's willing to listen to your story now. Right before you get started a red-headed boy walks in to deliver some vegetables. The new person introduces himself as Gouka and says when he returned to the village all of the men where gone. He believes you are the person they have been waiting for to help them.

Gouka says that Angus saw all of the men disappear through the window. There was a lot of splashing and then all of the villagers turned into fish. Gouka then leaves, but requests Angus to allow you to ride in his canoe. Angus hasn't felt the need to use his canoe since his wife died, so he needs some time to get it ready.

Go talk to the old lady in the fishing area again. She says that Rao's sister may move over to the farming area. She can't raise her baby all by herself! If you talk to Rao's sister she says she may remarry a man from the agricultural village. Head back to Angus' and you'll find Rao behind the house. Rao heard the story from Angus and he's glad to hear that you're there to help everybody. He runs off to go tell everybody. Inside Angus' house he is ready to go and he takes you to the dock.

Angus' canoe trip Angus will take you down into the lake area. If you talk to him he will take you to another point in the lake, take you back to the village, or you can cancel the conversation. You will need to catch a Silver Shark, a Red Alowana, and a Kissing Gourami. When the normal villagers have been changed back you can then hunt down a Knife Fish, who turns into Angus' son, Keto. The last fish to catch is a Bighead Carp. The carp will turn back into Rao's brother in law.

Back on the dock Rao will find you. He says his inlaw is back at home and thank you for your help. Angus too is excited to return to his house back in the fishing area since his son will be there waiting for him. After Angus takes his leave you'll be met by Gouka.

Gouka recognizes the fishing rod that Shizuki gave you back at Nushikiri. He also notices that you have the Legendary Reel from Touma. He then tells you the next next Shaman you'll meet is Haruki. It seems as though Gouka is the Shaman for this area and he'll give you the Legendary Lure, plus the notebook for the last land. Kikku says once you collect the last piece, the Legendary Notebook, you will have everything necessary to make the River King appear. It's time to hurry and meet up with Haruki!
