As this is a farming-themed game, there is a run-down farm presented at the beginning. While you don't actually get to work on the farm, the two protagonist farmers will work the farm in your place. Clearing the normal puzzles will help develop the farm plot and return it to a thriving agricultural mecha.
You can see the status of the farm from the game's puzzle selection menu. Press the Show Farm option while browsing the available normal puzzles to see how the farm is doing. The farm will also appear in the background while solving puzzles.
Every solved puzzle will move the farm one day in its current 30-day season. Since the game contains four seasons, you'll see the farm move through spring, summer, autumn, and winter.
As you solve certain puzzles, the farm will visually improve. Clearing a crop-based puzzle during the season in which the crop can grow will plant that crop in the farm's field. For example, solving the Turnip puzzle (#28) will make Turnips appear in the crop field during spring season. Once summer rolls around, the Turnips will be replaced with an unlocked summertime crop and will reappear next spring season.
The graphics for these farm improvements are based on Friends of Mineral Town. As such, there are no winter season field crops. During winter, most of the farm animals will not be seen in the field. The dog will still run around in the background.
The farmers will use a random tool if the tool has been unlocked.
While the Milker (Puzzle 142) and Clippers (Puzzle 250) are in the game, I haven't seen the farmers use those tools on the cows and sheep/alpaca.

Sunsweet Flower is Puzzle 191, but it doesn't appear in the background farm field.
