Nami

Nami is a mysterious character in Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. She is a loner who can often be found walking around the town alone. At night, she returns to her room on the Inn's second floor. Nami prides herself on being self-sufficient and doesn't want to rely on (or be a bother to) other people. That does leave her feeling lonely. She would like to help others, especially the kind innkeepers she lives with, but the feeling of possibly being rejected or causing a bigger problem keeps her from taking that chance.

After marraige, Nami still visits Lou and Tei at the inn.

Introduction

Nami stands under a tree, watching Gary and Nina. The elderly lovebirds have just left their house to go on a walk. She's so fixated on them that she doesn't realize you've stopped to say hi! After Nami gets over being startled, she says she is deciding where to go. She senses that you don't really believe that story. Nami then confirms she will hang out around the mansion, then leaves without saying anything more.

Nami's wandering now has her on your farm. She's not here because she has business with you. Anyhow, you can get back to work.

Option 1A: You're kinda hard to ignore...

Well if you put it that way, Nami decides to leave to go back to the inn.

Option 1B: Okay! Enjoy the farm. (+10 affection with Nami)

Really? Nami strolls around the farm, looking at the fields and animals. Before she leaves, Nami says that she finds your farm to be a pretty cool place.

4-Heart Event

Nami is hanging out inside the cafe. She greets you as you walk in.

Option 1A: Can I take this spot?

Why not? There's no one else here.

The silence is awkward. Maybe some conversation will help.

Option 2A: Why'd you come to Forgotten Valley?

Well, this is unexpected. There's not much for Nami to tell; she just likes wandering around.

Option 3A: Whoooa! Awesome! (+5 affection with Nami)

(Go directly to 5A/5B)

Option 3B: Oh, nice.

That's about it. Now it's your turn to explain why you're in Forgotten Valley. (Go directly to 4A/4B/4C)

Option 2B Wanna know why I came to Forgotten Valley?

Sure, go ahead and talk about yourself, but make it interesting.

The conversation goes well. Ah, so that's how you know who that Takakura fellow is. Nami wonders if running a farm is a profitable venture.

Option 4A: Yep! No worries there., or Option 4B: Not quite... (+5 affection with Nami), or Option 4C: I try not to think about that! (+10 affection with Nami)

Ah, good. Nami is going to return to the inn, but she wishes you good luck with your farm.

After she leaves, Molly notices that Nami didn't pay her bill.

Option 5A: No worries, I'll cover it.

You lose 256 G. (If you don't have 256 G, then you don't lose any money). Molly asks that you include her in your conversations next time.

Option 5B: Haha!

Molly reminds you that this isn't funny. She sighs and let's it go this time. Gavin objects though. Molly is betting on Nami not remembering she missed paying her bill the next time she comes in anyway. She'd love to hang out with both you and Nami on your next visit.

Option 1B: Why don't we talk for a bit?

Why would you want to talk with her? She'd bore you to tears. Nami walks out of the cafe.

Tei and Lou knock on your front door. They apologize for stopping by early today but they want to know if you've seen Nami. Tei explains that Nami had left them some money and then disappeared. They wonder if perhaps they're too late and they missed her. If you happen to see Nami, could you let her know that they're looking for her?

Option 1A: Of course!

Luu is glad they asked you. The two of them quickly leave to continue their search. It bothers you, though, so you chase after them. As you head out the farm entrance, you see Nami walking down the main road.

Option 1B: I'll look for her, too. (+5 friendship with Lou and Tei)

Oh, thank you! Lou and Tei are pleased that you offered to help them. They aren't sure where Nami would have gone, but suggest they split up. Lou is grateful for your efforts. The innkeepers head out while you go to search other spots that Nami likes to go.

Back at the inn, nobody has found her. Tei wonders if Nami has already left. Lou was hoping that she would stay for a long time. As the mood becomes sour, you hear Nami asking what you're doing here!

She calls out to Lou and Tei and asks them what's for lunch! The innkeepers are surprised to see she's still around, though Nami is confused as to what's going on. Tei explains that the money they found left in her room is the same amount as her cost for lodging. Lou was worried that Nami had paid her bill and then left Forgotten Valley. They're relieved to see she's still here! They go inside the inn to prepare lunch.

After they go inside, Nami admits that she intended to leave, but forgot and ended up coming back on her own because she got hungry. Well, since she's here, Nami might as well have a bite to eat.

Before she goes inside, Nami recognizes that she might have caused you to worry too. She sheepishly apologizes and then goes inside for lunchtime.

At the inn's counter, Nami is grumbling about something that has arrived. Tei walks out of the kitchen and tells Nami that her dad called last night. When Tei picked up the phone, the voice on the other end asked if his daughter was there. Tei confirmed she was, and when he asked if the voice would like to talk to her, her dad replied that he didn't. The phone disconnected after that.

Nami doesn't seem bothered by the telephone call. She asks Tei if the letter on the counter is for her, and Tei confirms that it is for her. Nami takes the letter, reads it, and then quietly wonders if she needs to find a job. Bravely, she turns to Tei and asks if she can work at the inn. Tei is surprised by the unexpected request and tells her that she's welcome to work here if she wants. Nami changes her mind, tells Tei everything is okay, and then walks away.

She walks past you but then turns around and asks if you're looking for someone to work on your farm.

Option 1A: Of course! No problem! (+10 affection with Nami)

Nami thinks for a moment and then tells you that was probably a bad idea, then she walks out of the inn.

Option 1B: No way! (-5 affection with Nami)

Nami acknowledges your response, turns away, and walks out of the inn.

Tei welcomes you to the inn as you walk inside. What's up?

Option 1A: I came to see Nami. or Option 1B: I came to talk to you, Tei.

Tei is glad to hear that, as he has something on his mind. Nami has been a bit melancholy. Perhaps you can cheer her up. The two of you notice that Nami has come downstairs but before Tei can say anything, Nami says she's going out for a bit and abruptly walks outside. Tei asks that you please try to figure out what's bothering her.

You find Nami at the beach. She explains that while she loves it here, Nami will have to leave soon; she's running out of money to stay at the inn. Nobody in Forgotten Valley is hiring for work anyway, and she doesn't want to be hired because they take pity for her. Nami thanks you for everything you've done so far.

Option 2A: I should be thanking you.

Anyhow, Nami says she plans to stay in the valley through the end of Winter, then she sadly walks away.

Option 2B: Stay at my place, Nami. (+10 affection with Nami)

Really? That would be great! She smiles at your suggestion and walks away.

At this point you are going-steady with Nami. No other romance events will trigger.

Proposal Event

Nami takes you back to her room at the inn. Your marriage proposal has taken her by surprise! You show her the feather again. Nami pauses momentarily and decides that marriage might be for her after all.

Engagement Event

Carter greets you at the front door. He needs help at the dig site if you've the free time. You agree to assist the archeologist when Nami appears. Carter explains that he's here to ask for your help today. Nami seems interested, so Carter asks if she would like to help too. Nami is surprised that she was invited and asks if you're okay with her tagging along. Of course she can come!

At the dig site, Carter hands out the area assigments and everyone gets to work. Nami finds a few minor relicts, eventually finding a pretty crystal. She gets excited and wants to show it to you, but then she sees that you found a crystal too! Oh, that's her favorite one! Nami never imagined excavating would be like this. Let's keep digging!

Eventually the fun is over. Back outside, Nami is tired but feels accomplished. Nami was excited about the object you had found and laughs about the face that Carter made when you showed it to him. Nami notices you smiling and asks her if there's something wrong with her face.

Option 1A: You're too cute, Nami.

What did you say! Nami is embarrased and calls you weird.

Option 1B: I've never heard you talk so much at once!

How embarrasing. She wonders why you pointed that out. She explains that it was her first time excavating, and she enjoyed it more than she thought she would. Nami found it interesting to see things she has never seen before, that's all.

She quickly walks away. You give chase and apologize for embarrasing her. She forgives your dumbassery and the two of you walk home.
