If you want to participate in the Stocking Festival you'll need a pair of socks! You can't buy them from the store or the TV Shopping show, but they can be manufacturerd by one of the villagers.
Ellen knits some socks
You will need to become very good friends with Ellen before she'll knit you some socks for the Festival. If you believe you are in high standards with her, go to her house in the Winter season between 9:00am and 11:00am. Give her a ball of Yarn from your Sheep and she'll thank you. As a reward she'll knit you a pair of socks as a gift. Her work will take all day. When she's finished you'll return to your farm house and it will be 6:00pm. You will also have a fancy pair of socks hanging on a hook by your clock.
It doesn't matter what size of Yarn you give her. The socks will always turn out the same.
