Daryl is laughing madly again, swaring that this time he'll be successful. You go investigate what he's up to. Daryl turns around and asks what you want.
Option 1A: Just checking in! Bye! (+5 friendship with Daryl)
You turn to leave, but Daryl objects to your easy exit. You're not going anywhere until he shows you his latest and greatest creation!
Option 1B: Another experiment, huh? (+5 friendship with Daryl)

Daryl explains that his current research is about water sources. You see, most of the valley's potable water comes from underground water wells, but those could run out of water. While rainwater is why the wells refill, much precipitation flows to the ocean instead. Daryl proposes making a large water collection system to capture enough rainwater that it can be used by both the valley and the next town over.
Rainwater naturally contains impurities, so Daryl has developed a filtration system to make collected water drinkable. He turns around and shows you the unit controlling the filtration s system. You have a bad feeling about this...
Option 1C: RUN!
You escape outside right as Daryl activates his filtration system. At first, the water collection system seems to be working. Suddenly, you hear a large crash, followed by Daryl's grumbling. He'll need to completely overhaul the system to achieve success.
