The Ushi No Tane websites specialize in information, FAQs, and guides about the Nintendo console versions of the Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, and Legend of the River King video games. These game genres are created and published in Japan by Marvelous (JP). In other regions, you'll find Natsume, XSeed Games/Marvelous (USA), Marvelous (EU), and Rising Star involved in the series' release.

The latest version of the mainstream farming series that have been released in various regions of the world are:

  • Japan: Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar (August 2025)
  • North America: Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home Special Edition (October 2025) and Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar (August 2025)
  • Europe: Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home Special Edition (October 2025) and Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar (August 2025)

The latest version of River King, in all regions of the world, is River King: Mystic Valley (JP 2007, NA 2008, EU 2009).

Since 2000, Ushi no Tane has been run by a grouchy old lady who happens to be fond of video game agriculture along with two feline helpers: Intern Captain Bootu and Intern Hondo Mewnaka. The website is not officially affiliated, sponsored, endorsed, or employed by the developers of Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, or River King. This is simply a fan site.

HM: Teradea Delay, NISA Announces EN for ViTS, Farming Camp Trailer, and New Farm'n Games | Posted at 04:36 PM 14 August 2026

Happy Farm'n Friday! So far, I've been pleased with the Shishito peppers. Though they're small plants, the 3-inch peppers are flavorful and great for stir fry. I can add those seeds to the "crops I can't screw up" group, which doesn't have a lot of members! Potatoes, blueberries, daikon, and zucchini, basically.

There's a house I pass on my daily stroll that has all their tomato plants in containers in their front yard. And there are so many tomatoes! It's a jealousy-inducing amount of fruit. My six plants in the backyard have produced 2 large tomatoes and a handful of grape-sized gems. At least it is an improvement from last year when the plants didn't grow at all because of the unexpectedly nutrient-lacking soil that was delivered from the local plant nursery. Next year, maybe it'll be even better. Gotta think positively!

The upcoming farming game Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea has had its September 24 release date pushed to October 15. Which is fine with me; I've enough farm'n video gaming going on that it is totally cool to be a month later. I am still playing Moonlight Peaks and SoS: Grand Bazaar!

The company also published a dream sequence that players will experience in the game, showcasing four mysterious environmental deities in shadowy forms. I think we can make some good guesses as to what we're seeing:

  • The Bloomfield Village guardian spirit wolf surrounded by cherry blossom petals. Note that the wolf is not a transformed Harvest Goddess, as she's stuck in her tiny, floating form again in Teradea.
  • A summertime water-bubble sprite that looks very much like Aestas, the deity of Lilikala from Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos (You can see her hair curl and the outline of her sea shell barrette on the side of her head). Most likely now the guardian spirit of the oceanside town, Tidewind.
  • A rocky giant surrounded by ice shards, possibly a sasquatch redesign, perhaps the guardian of the mining town Quarrytop.
  • Finally, another shadowed figure with a shape that looks like the music and maple-leaf harvest sprite Autumnus, originally the protector of Herbstburg from Winds of Anthos. Probably the guardian spirit of Maplehill.

Natsume also published another short video on their Facebook/Instagram specifically showcasing some of the marriage candidates.:

Five of the candidates we've seen before. The blond-haired Bloomfield Village lady did appear for a brief moment from the back in the official trailer, so now we are seeing her face from the front. We still don't know her name or the names of the Tidewind marriage candidates, one of which appeared here.

If you're observant, you'll notice that there is a certain crafty inventor missing from the montage. They're probably holding off until the last minute to announce his candidacy. Yep, that must be it….

ViTS EN Date

NIS America announced this week that the EN text for Nippon Ichi Software's farming game, Village in The Shade, will be released on October 27. Language support for French and Spanish will also be available as of that date. This thriller-style farming game is currently available in Japanese, Korean, and Traditional Chinese. Those who already own the digital Steam version will receive the languages via a game update.

NIS also released two new trailers for the game. The first concentrates on the horror aspect of the game and is a bit spoilery, while the second highlights the game's Sunshine Mode (as seen above). This option allows farmers to play the game as a carefree, rural farming adventure without the possibility of breaking the town's mysterious rules and the resulting consequences.

Japan region sales are now up to 150,000 copies distributed digitally and physically. Nippon Ichi Software noted that physical editions of the PlayStation 5 version are expected to arrive at retailers in Japan this month, with physical editions of the Nintendo Switch 2 version releasing in September.

New Farming Camp Trailer

To promote the upcoming September 24 release of the story-driven farming game, Farming Camp, publisher SOEDESCO and developer Innerfire Studios (Orange Season) released a session trailer that explains what campers will be doing at this outdoor school. There are farming mini games, animal care, fishing, and camp chores, all the while working (or not working) with other campers to progress story elements. So while it isn't a full-fledged farming game experience, Farming Camp does offer interactive farming elements, setting the player on the path of discovering what criteria makes someone an Evertree Farmer.

There is a free demo available on Steam, though not on home console platforms:

SDV Physical Switch 2

Fangamer will be releasing physical copies of the currently digital-only version of Stardew Valley for Nintendo Switch 2. This release is planned for February 2027 for a price of $39. This physical edition includes reversible box art highlighting the financial strength of JoJo Mart. Preorders are now available on the Fangemer website:

New Farm'n: Keep Watering

screenshot

Frozen Logic Studio's incremental farming game, Keep Watering, will launch on Steam in October. In this quick-play game, you have 15 seconds to water the crops (via mouseclick) to trigger a harvest. Every harvest will reward you with money to unlock upgrades on a skill tree. Spend $5 to add +1 to the watering action efficiency, $10 to increase the timer from 15 seconds to 17 seconds, and so on.

The more features unlocked, the more you can harvest each round. New crops also unlock as the skill tree expands, which bring in even more money at harvest. Water, harvest, upgrade, then repeat the gameplay loop.

A free demo is available if you want to check it out:

Until next time
