The Ushi No Tane websites specialize in information, FAQs, and guides about the Nintendo console versions of the Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, and Legend of the River King video games. These game genres are created and published in Japan by Marvelous (JP). In other regions, you'll find Natsume, XSeed Games/Marvelous (USA), Marvelous (EU), and Rising Star involved in the series' release.
The latest version of the mainstream farming series that have been released in various regions of the world are:
Japan: Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life (January 2023)
North America: Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos (September 2023) and Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life (June 2023)
Europe: Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos (October 2023) and Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life (June 2023)
The latest version of River King, in all regions of the world, is River King: Mystic Valley (JP 2007, NA 2008, EU 2009).
Since 2000, Ushi no Tane has been run by a grouchy old lady who happens to be fond of video game agriculture along with two feline helpers: Intern Captain Bootu and Intern Hondo Mewnaka. The website is not officially affiliated, sponsored, endorsed, or employed by the developers of Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, or River King. This is simply a fan site.

UNoT 15 Year Anniversary! | Posted at 03:21 PM 28 August 2015Natsume is beginning to ramp up the Developer Diary for Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories. If you have any questions you'd like to ask the devs, head over to the Natsume Community Message Board and submit your questions to the team.
August 28 also marks the first day that a page was created for the Harvest Moon GBC 2website in response to the lack of GBC coverage online (it seems like everything was HM64), which eventually developed into the massive catch-all for all things Harvest Moon (and now Story of Seasons) related. It doesn't feel like it has been 15 years already, but it becomes very apparent when I get emails from gamers who first visited fogu when they were in elementary school, and still have questions about their farming games now that they're in college.
Some "fun facts" you might or might not know about the website:
FOGU is an acronym for the Federation of Golden Underwear
The site title, Ushi no Tane, was decided on after realizing the Grain Silo used for the background of the navigation for the HM GBC 2 site was a little bit... well... phallic...
The HMGBC2 site was created after I had finished with the Terranigma website, which was developed back in 1999 for 28.8 modem access and had spliced screenshot images to help with load times.
I still am frequently asked about unlocking the hot spring in HMDS, even as the game is reaching its 10th year since its English release.
Back in '06, a popular fansite, HM Otaku, was going to close down. Instead of losing all of the site's guide data for the large console versions, this site absorbed much of the information and expanded from just hand-held versions to include SNES, HM64, BTN, BTNFG, STH, and AWL. A few years later, some of the former admins wanted to revive the domain and asked for a copy of the old site (which I still have on my computer). It seems to have faded back into the voids of the inactive Internet though.
The most popular country for site visitors is the United States (54%), followed by Canada (8%), the UK region (6%), and Indonesia (5%). Japan is not interested in EN coverage of the Bokujou Monogatari series (less than 1%).
The website is still managed by one person and one kitty intern, with one very patient spouse in the background who ensures I don't spend every minute sitting at my keyboard.
Modern-day Marriage candidate popularity, based on fogu website statistics:
Harvest Moon DS and Harvest Moon DS Cute: Skye is the most popular marriage candidate, beating out fan-favorite Celia, Muffy, and Flora. The other two popular boys are Rock and then Marlin.
The most popular bachelors for Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness are Vaughn, Denny, and Shea. The most popular bachelorettes are Chelsea, Julia, and Lanna.
For Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands, it is Will, Vaughn again, and Denny for the boys, and Lily, Julia, and the Witch Princess for the girls.
The top three bachelors in Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar are Ivan, Dirk, and Amir. The top three bachelorettes are Antoinette, Freya, and Sherry.
Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns has Cam as the most popular by far, followed by Ash, Kana, Georgia, Dirk, and Reina.
The most popular marriage candidate in Harvest Moon: A New Beginning is Neil, followed by Allen and Iroha. Yuri is the least popular. Neil has almost twice as many page hits as Iroha.
For Story of Seasons, Raeger's profile page is the most popular out of all the marriage candidates since the game's launch in June 2014. That's followed by Klaus and Fritz. For the bachelorettes, it is Iris, Elise, and Licorice, yet Iris' page is half as popular as Raeger's. This could be a strong indication of the bachelors being more popular in comparison to the bachelorettes.
And for fun, here's the TV commercial for Bokujou Monogatari: Mineral Town no Nakamatachi from 2003 that I found while browsing through all my old site files.
Here's to another 15 years!
