The Ushi No Tane websites specialize in information, FAQs, and guides about the Nintendo console versions of the Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, and Legend of the River King video games. These game genres are created and published in Japan by Marvelous (JP). In other regions, you'll find Natsume, XSeed Games/Marvelous (USA), Marvelous (EU), and Rising Star involved in the series' release.
The latest version of the mainstream farming series that have been released in various regions of the world are:
- Japan: Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life (January 2023)
- North America: Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos (September 2023) and Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life (June 2023)
- Europe: Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos (October 2023) and Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life (June 2023)
The latest version of River King, in all regions of the world, is River King: Mystic Valley (JP 2007, NA 2008, EU 2009).
Since 2000, Ushi no Tane has been run by a grouchy old lady who happens to be fond of video game agriculture along with two feline helpers: Intern Captain Bootu and Intern Hondo Mewnaka. The website is not officially affiliated, sponsored, endorsed, or employed by the developers of Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, or River King. This is simply a fan site.

LoH Release, June Moble Events, and LDC Update |
Posted at 08:00 PM 01 June 2018Happy Farm'n Friday! I've given up on germinating the Tsamma Melon seeds. Only two of them sprouted after cracking their shell, and even then the sprouts were very weak and soon stopped growing. Looks like it'll be watermelons again for this year! At least Potatoland is coming along nicely. Cayenne Pepper is keeping the tree rats away from the dahlias, though now there's a mystery insect that has completely eaten the Dill and the leaves off the Marigolds. If it's not one thing, it's another, right?
June Mobage Events
The list of community events for this month in
Bokujou Monogatari for Mobage, the web-based social version of the farming series, are:
- Starting today, a harvest event takes place that is magic themed. Players can grow Fairy Mushrooms and Magical Trees, and care for Red Riding Hood White Foxes and Wolf-hood Squirrels to earn festival points. Awards are given at the end of the event (June 9) for the amount of points earned compared to all other players. This event also awards heart tokens at various special times that can be given to your in-game friends and eventually exchanged for more rewards such as the blue Wizard Long hair wig or Magic Forest Wizard outfit.
- On the 11th a Hungry Animal event starts. Players will grow special crops that can be fed to an animal that will randomly appear on each players' farm. In-game prizes are awarded based on the three different types of animals the players can satisfy. Some animals only require 100 harvested food crops to be full, but the other two require 250 and 500 food. Players can team up to feed someone's animal to complete goals that unlock in-game prizes.
- Finally starting on the 21st is the Bingo event. Match up to three crops in a row on the special bingo field to earn points towards in-game prizes based on the total number of points earned.
Little Dragon Cafe Update
This week Marvelous revealed some new characters in Wada's new game,
Little Dragon Cafe:
- Roquette is an orc-like man who also happens to be a chef. He once worked at a famous restaurant and now will help out with the twins' cafe.
- Huey is a young man who suddenly appears one day, though he has problems that he won't reveal to anyone. He seems to react strangely to round objects (implying that Huey is actually a werewolf of some sort)
The official Japanese site also explains how players will be
exploring the island with the dragon, using the little buddy to reach other areas to collect more ingredients for cooking dishes at the cafe. As the game progresses, the little dragon will become large enough to break obstacles, push rocks, and even fly around.
There are also 20 color options the little dragon can become based on the food players feed it as it grows. The dragon can also produce a fertilizer that can be used in the field to produce even rarer ingredients for cooking.
Light of Hope RELEASED!
The latest
Harvest Moon game was released last Tuesday on the Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch consoles. I anticipate having the chance to dive deep into it this weekend in between planting actual crops (Bush Beans and Bib Lettuce!), though I've had a chance to play about two hours so far since its release. There's been a few changes so far from the PC version that released last November:
- There's a new shipping bin next to Gus' blacksmith shop. Now players can ship their processed gems soon after paying Gus to process them, though if Sam is also in the Mountain at the time you could sell directly to him instead and instantly receive the same amount as if you were to ship them.
- The fish caught now display a Max size and a Min size underneath their description based on the size that you've caught of that particular fish.
- Once the stamina level reaches 1 heart, an audible beep-beep warning sounds to notify players that they're getting tired. It speeds up once the remaining stamina reaches a half heart.
- Soleil is part of the main story line; it can't be missed!
- The chicken coop now has a herding bell to bring the chickens outside. In the PC version the chickens had to be brought out one at a time by hand, or just left inside permanently (which is the easiest way of dealing with them).
For the Switch players, Doc is featured in the News Channels section, publishing his
Doc's Exciting Harvest Moon Report featuring inside information and news straight from the genius himself (or someone
pretending to be his magnificence). So far Doc has posted articles about the game such as the first Download Content that is now available. The DLC will add an additional tool upgrade for the Hoe and Watering can, which I'm imagining won't be available until after you upgrade those tools to the Sacred tool level.
Until next time!

(There's only five months left before it is Christmas light installation time! So hyped for this year's additions!)
