Latest Farming Video Game News

Happy farm'n Friday! There are less than 60 days to go before it's installation time for the 2020 Christmas Light Extravaganza! I've got a new design idea baking in my head, and as always, I'm not sure how much of it can be implemented until the strings of lights start attaching to the house. Though my spreadsheet of light inventory seems to not be up to date. I sware I have more curtain lights than the file says I have...

I wasn't too keen on last year's carpet of light strings across the terraced terrains in the front yard. Even with a speed control box, it looked flashier than what I expected. This year, I plan to repurpose all those red, white, and green strings into something a bit more elegant and less gaudy. Of course, it may look even goofier in the end, but Chrismas lights are an outdoor artistic canvas; it gets wiped out every year to begin anew. Ya never know until you try!

Doraemon Ps4 Release Day

The Playstation 4 version of Doraemon: Story of Seasons is now available for digital download from the North American and European Playstation Stores. The game retails for $49.99 USD / $66.99 CAN / £34.99 UK and requries 787 MB of free hard drive space on the console. The Ps4 game is available in physical form in several countries in Europe through Bandai Namco EU, but digital-only in the UK and Italy. The game is also digital-only in North America.

This version does include the updated content that was added to the Japan region of the game: decorative farm ornaments like a golden Noby statue, more furniture for the farmhouse, new secret gadgets to use (Cupid's Arrow, Field Restaurant, and Barter Machine), new types of fish to catch, and a new whale pet. The Ps4 version also includes trophy support.

• Doraemon: Story of Seasons on Playstation Store (USA)

The Nintendo Switch version (outside of Japan) has not yet been updated to include the new bonus features added to the Ps4 version. Namco Bandai JP has already ported the Ps4 features to the Switch edition, though not currently available yet in NA and EU.

September Mobage Events

There's a new batch of events scheduled to take place this month in the online browser-based version of Bokujou Monogatari in Japan:

• A wisteria-themed competitive harvest festival started on September 1. Players try to earn as many points as possible by harvesting wisteria flowers, bonsai, lilypad frogs, and purple sheep. In-game prizes will be awarded based on the number of points a player earns. Throughout the festival, friendship hearts can be sent to other players that can be exchanged for more in-game prizes. This festival ends on the 9th.
• The fun Bingo event starts on September 11. Players will grow special bingo crop seeds and hope they get three of the same crop in a row or a full board of the same crop for a max bingo, worth more points. In-game prizes will be awarded based on the total number of bingo points collected during the event. Players can use their Sunshine Ability to increase the number of harvestable items on their friends' bingo cards; however, bonus bingo points will only be awarded if the ability is used on an active three-in-a-row bingo. Typically it is best to wait until the board is full of the same crop to trigger a max bingo and then wait until a multiplier triggers to earn bingo points. This event often has time-based prizes that no longer become available for players to win once the availability time expires, so it's good to earn points as fast as possible before the prizes expire!
• Finally, a hungry animal event begins on the 21st. Players will grow crops to feed to one of three randomly appearing animals on their farm. Prizes are awarded based on how the number of fed animals. Players can feed their hungry animals as well as their fellow farmers' animals.
