Rare Merchandise
Merchant Moriya runs the wholesale market in the middle of North Tsuyukusa. Besides overseeing his retail counters, every so often Moriya comes across miraculous merchandise that he's willing to sell to you for a special price. To discover if he's anything special to offer, simply talk to him while he is downstairs in the warehouse area.
The special offers appear to be random, but I usually see one per week. Moriya will tell you the item he's offering, the quantity of that item (between 5 and 10), and the total price he is offering to sell the item at. You can then either confirm that you'll accept the offer, you'll pass on his offer, or you need more time to think about it. The third option will just exit his deal, where it will remain available until the shop closes at 16:00. After that, the offer is off the table. Talking to him again will not change the item, quantity, or the total price of that day's offer. All sales are final; Moriya does not issue refunds if you change your mind!
The items that Moriya finds as a merchant can be rare or they can be fairly common. He'll calculate his offer price on the number of offered items multiplied by a random price per item, within his range of minimum price and maximum price. Sometimes his offers are NOT in your best interest. For example, Moriya might offer 5 Ruby for a total of 67,500 G. That's a bad deal, as you can buy Ruby for 7500 G each at Log House in North Westown, and even with a 10% discount on top of that if you happen to be under the effect of the Shop Discount Food Power. On the other hand, he also can sell Pearl that's not for sale at any other shop, which could be a good deal if you're desperate for that construction material.
