Caring for Fluffy Sheep and Suffolk
The fuzzy livestock animal will produce wool for you every 3 days. You can harvest the wool using Clippers, then wait until you see it has grown back. There are two types of sheep available in the game:
- The normal Sheep is available for sale after you unlock Cabin Country. Vendor Marielle will become a visitor at the Trade Depot after you have shipped at least 100,000 G worth of goods and you have reached Summer of year 1 later. Each Sheep costs 10,000 G.
- The upgraded Suffolk Sheep is available starting in Spring of year 2 from Cabin Country. Each Suffolk costs 15,000 G. If you haven't unlocked Cabin Country yet, then you won't be able to buy Suffolk.
Wool and Suffolk Wool can be converted to cloth by using the Sewing Studio. The cloth can then be crafted into clothing outfits.
Shearing Wool
You won't receive a free pair of Clippers when you buy your first sheep. The day after you buy one, Otmar will sell Old Clippers at his General Store in Oak Tree Town. After you buy the Old Clippers, the next time Cabin Country appears at the Trade Depot you can buy the blueprint to start upgrading your tool. Upgrading the Old Clippers will reduce the amount of Stamina you lose while clipping your sheep's fur as well as reduce the amount of time it takes to obtain its wool.
You can increase the amount of wool you receive from your sheep by feeding them treats. Give your sheep Baa-Baa Treats to raise the By-Products level. You can buy these treats from Cabin Country for 200 G each. You'll need to give (at most) 119 Baa-Baa Treats to raise a normal Sheep to 5 By-Products, and 122 Baa-Baa Treats to raise a Suffolk to 5 By-Products. The number of By-Products it gives will never decrease if you stop giving it treats.
To make your sheep permanently produce Wool+, and Suffolk Wool+, each sheep must spend at least 100 in-game hours in the Safari. You might obtain plus-quality goods from a Sheep or Suffolk with a Cowardly personality once the animal reaches at least 7 friendship hearts.
Birth and Death
Impregnating a sheep can be done at any of the vendors at the Trade Depot. Just select "Ask about Animals" when talking with a vendor, then select "Breed animals."
Pregnancy will last 20 days. While the sheep is pregnant it will be placed in the special pregnancy pen in the upper-right corner of the animal barn. You don't have to feed the animal or take it outside; you can't give it treats either. After 20 days the sheep will give birth to a smaller version of itself. The baby sheep will take another 20 days to mature as long as it is fed every day.
Sheep will naturally pass away when they become too old. A normal, well-cared for Sheep has a chance of passing away when it is 4 years old, and a Suffolk can pass away beginning at 5 years old.
