Chapter 2: Start Your Farm Life

Return to Chapter 1

By the way, those Turnips you're growing, could you bring one to the Village Hall once they're ripe? Since it will be a while, Justin/Christina suggests you look around town.

Walk across the bridge to the east of Village Hall to meet with the townsfolks. You'll meet Jeanne by the newspaper shop, unfriendly Harriet and Abraham around the beach, Hugo near the town center, carpenter Braden and his carpenter-dad Andy in the residential area, Penelope the tailor (and Braden's mom), Philip the animal shop owner, traveler Fletcher at his campsite, and grouchy Peter the Stavia Mine owner. It seems like half the villagers are welcoming, but the other half are not very open to outside visitors, even though Alba is your hometown.

You can also meet the mysterious Fredrick your friend mentioned. He and Tessa run the large farm on the other side of the red-brick bridge, on the far eastern side of Alba. Fredrick gives you a warning though; don't go stirring up any trouble. You can't help but notice that his fields look to be in rough shape...

If you ever get lost on what to do, check the Request section in the Main Menu. The first task listed is the current story task.

Willis will visit in the morning when your Turnips are full grown. He explains the basics of harvesting and using the shipping bin next to your mailbox. Now that you have a Turnip, return to the Village Hall and hand over a Turnip to your friend. They're impressed! With your talents, we might be able to... nope, they stop mid-sentence again. Hm, how strange!

Since you're out of seeds, head over to the Grocery Store and buy new crop seeds from Victoria. You can also talk to the other villagers, give gifts, and forage for more items to sell.

The next morning, head back to the Village Hall and talk with Justin/Christina. That Turnip was absolutely devine! On that note, there's an idea they want to run by you. Would you be interested in featuring your farm in the Alba Times newspaper? Maybe your fame will bring people to visit the village, making it the shining beacon of smiles it used to be. That's the dream, after all: to make the town viable again. You naturally agree to help! Justin/Christina will plan everything with Jeanne and let you know how it goes.

Head around and talk to the villagers about the newspaper. The consensus is that the periodic only publishes a few times because there is little to report on in this idle little town.

During breakfast the following day, there is a notice in the Alba Times. The publication will be taking a break! This warrants an investigation. You can't eat morning gruel without following it up with reading the local newspaper.

Head back to the Village Hall and discuss the situation with Justin/Christina. They went to talk to Jeanne about the farm article idea but detected something was bothering her. Something must be wrong if she's decided to stop writing the newspaper. Your childhood friend is concerned that Jeanne has a problem that she's keeping to herself but knows that Jeanne isn't one to volunteer information. You'll want to talk to the other villagers and see if they can give some clues.
