Fritz

Fritz runs the Greenhill Farm just north of Oak Tree Town. Like you, he wants to do his best with the farm he has; unlike you, Fritz is not very good at it! His farm looks shabby and disorganized, but that doesn't mean that he's lazy and unkempt. He just isn't very experienced with managing a farm, even though his heart is in the right spot. Fritz tries his best every day to care for his animals and crops, and believes that he is better at it than the results of his labors indicate.

He is a very friendly fellow, and as your rival, he enourages you to do your best. He is available from the beginning of the game.

Mitten Crab Soup = Mitten Crab + mushroom + egg. This recipe is part of Recipe Set #4 that you receive by winning either the crop, fishing, or cooking festivals, you own the Basic Soup and Basic Salad recipe sets, and you have already obtained Recipe Set #1 through #3.

Mitten Crab is a giant fish, and can be caught at the northeast dock in the Riverside Pasture area (i.e., the fishing dock you have to swim to reach) when using the Sacred Rod. You need to catch all of the available fish at this dock before Mitten Crab will appear during stormy weather. The blueprint for the upgraded fishing pole is for sale at the Tropical County Trade Depot vendor.

For crafted items, Fritz likes Gold yarns and Gold cloth made from Alpaca, Suffolk Sheep, Camel, Llama, and Goat hair, which you can craft in your Sewing Shed. He also likes emerald jewely, Zebu Herb Cheese+, Zebu Herb Butter+, Zebu Fruit Yogurt+, Araucana Mayo+, and Araucana Herb Mayo+.

Fritz notices a man who has dropped his apples all over the sidewalk. When he goes to help, Fritz falls over and makes more of a mess for the man. Looks like Fritz could use some assistance.

• Choice 1: Help

  Result: +1500 FP with Fritz

  You run down to help pick up the apples for the man. He thanks the both of you, as it would of taken him all day to do it by himself, and gives Fritz some money so the two of you can to get something to eat. Fritz is thankful for your effort and invites you to go to the restaurant with him.

  On the way there the two of you come across a dog. Fritz wonders if it doesn't have an owner, and decides that he'll care for the dog. He even gives it a name! Unfortunately, the dog doesn't seem like Fritz, and it keeps attacking him. He calls out to you for help.

  • Choice A: Help

    Result: +1500 FP with Fritz

    You step in and pet the dog, which stops its attack. Fritz tries to pet the dog too, but it just goes back to snapping at him. You hear someone call out to the dog, and it runs off but returns soon afterward to give you some gratitude; Fritz gets ignored. Oh well, at least its owner was found.

  • Choice B: Observe

    Result: -1000 FP with Fritz

    Fritz is bothered that you're just standing there. Suddenly you hear someone calling for the dog. Guess it had an owner after all

  After the incident with the dog, the two of you come upon a crying boy. Fritz gives the boy some candy, but that brings an alert mother out from nowhere, who takes the candy away and gives it back to Fritz. After you explain, the mother bows, and she and her son walk away.

  Now it is a man carrying a bed that Fritz wants to help. Fritz takes the furniture from the guy, but it is too heavy and so he drops it. You help the man instead.

  Finally the two of you reach the restaurant, but it is closed today! Poor Fritz is so tired that he falls over in the middle of the path. Raeger comes down the stairs and wonders why you guys are by his shop, as it is closed. Fritz is still disappointed, but Raeger decides to invite you two into the shop anyway, which cheers Fritz right up. Before you follow Raeger into the restaurant, Fritz thanks you for all your help today.

When you walk into Fritz's house, you notice that he is setting out a lot of food. the guy that he helped the other day stopped by with a lot of cooking ingredients, so Fritz has been busy cooking. It's way too much for one person to eat, and he invites you to eat with him before the food gets cold.

After the meal is finished, Fritz asked what you thought of it.

  Modern-day guys can start doing the cooking and housework. He'd like to be a husband too! He realizes that you were talking about him and becomes a little nervous. You'd have to be going steady first. Fritz believes you're making fun of him and doesn't think you're being serious.

  Well that was unexpected. men can do housework too!

• Choice 3: Did you go to the store...

  As a matter of fact, Fritz exclaims that he made all of the food!

You look around and comment that you don't see a kitchen... Fritz admits that he doesn't have the money for a kitchen, so he had asked Raegar to use his kitchen. The trip from his house to the restaurant was tough; he ran back and forth between the two buildings until he had everything back at his place. It was delicious though, and he's glad that you liked it.

Upstairs in the restaurant, Fritz is trying to get some dirty gossip from Raeger. He had heard that a girl had come to town to confess her love to the chef. Fritz admits that he's jealous of the female attention that Raeger receives, but Raeger reminds Fritz that he already has a girlfriend. Oh yea, that's right!

Fritz starts to reminisce how he used to be sad while Raeger had all the ladies throwing themselves at him. Now the tables have turned, as Raeger has to sit and listen to Fritz tell him how awesome his girlfriend is. The chef is becoming annoyed with the farmer, and asks at what point did he brag about his popularity with women? Fritz just comes to him when he hears these things, and Raeger is tired of hearing about Fritz's love life.

Oh well then, Fritz begins to tell him how you're the most adorable girlfriend ever! The two of them suddenly notice that you are listening to them, so Raeger asks if you could tell your boyfriend to stop talking about his romantic adventures.

• Choice 1: Look away.

  Result: -1000 FP with Fritz, -300 FP with Raeger

  You look away as to ignore the situation. Raeger scolds you for giving up so easily, as he's the one who has to put up with your boyfriend's endless gushing! You talk to Fritz, who admits he gets carried away sometimes. Fritz says he'll hold back a little bit, although it'll be difficult. Raeger doesn't mind hearing every so often, but not every day. The chef understands why Fritz likes to brag, since you've probably had other romantic offers and yet you selected him.

• Choice 2: Chide Fritz.

    Fritz thinks you're trying to break up with him, and starts begging you to take him back when he realizes that you were just joking. Raeger warns him that he might drive you away if Fritz keeps up with the gushy love stories. Fritz promises to try to tone it down, but Raeger doesn't think he can do it. Fritz gets tired of Raeger's teasing and runs away.

• Choice 3: Gush along with Fritz.

  Fritz goes into super-gush mode and confesses his great love for you. Raeger has had enough of it and tells the two of you to go somewhere else and gush about each other.

You are browsing the items for sale at the store when Fritz walks in. He tells you that he's here to buy some new crop seeds for planting. He's been so excited about the new stock of seeds that he's been waiting since before the store opened! He starts chit-chatting with you about his farm, your rivalry, and then he asks what made you want to become a farmer. You tell him that you've wanted to be a farmer since you were young. The advertisement flyers are just the first step you needed. For Fritz, he said he was working on doing a variety of different things when he saw the farmer-wanted flyer. He figured he could do everything that it was asking for, so he decided to become a farmer.

• Choice 2: So it was kind of a gut feeling?

  Result: +2000 FP with Fritz

  A decision that important can't be made without looking inward on yourself. Everyone else he's talked to has told him what a rash decision he made, but he feels it is best to just go with your gut instinct. Fritz figures that if one just keeps pondering over different options, you'd grow old while missing out on some great opportunities!

  Fritz is glad he took the chance. If he hadn't, he wouldn't of ever learned how rewarding farming could be, or met the villagers and you. He only wishes he could go back in time and tell his younger self that he made the right decision to follow his gut. He's pumped to follow this path that he's chosen, and exclaims that he's going to be the world's greatest farmer, and just about tells you how getting married would make everything perfect when your confused response stops him from finishing his sentence. He changes the topic to Otmar's store opening hours.
