Raeger

Raeger moved to Oak Tree Town to help his grandfather with the restaurant he owns. After his grandfather passed away, Raeger took over the restaurant, which he runs in the same manner and style as his grandpa did. He is always thinking of new types of recipes to cook up in his kitchen.

The chef is available from the beginning of the game. Most of the time you'll find him working inside of the restaurant, but on Wednesdays he'll take a break and appear in random locations around town. You can give him gifts while he is waiting for customers, as long as you walk behind the counter to directly interact with him. If you talk to him from the opposite side of the counter, he'll activate his shop inventory.

Raeger will reward you with cooking recipes when you eat at his restaurant. You will need to order something to eat from him 129 times before you'll receive all of his available cooking recipes.

Sea Urchin Bowl = Rice + Sea Urchin. This rice-category cooking recipe is a reward for winning the crop, fishing, or cooking festivals. You'll need to receive Recipe Set #12, which also includes the recipe for Squid Rice. For the recipe to appear as a festival, you need to buy the Basic Rice recipe set from Sakura Country.

Rice can be for 450 G at the Sakura Country Trade Depot vendor or the Silk Country vendor. Sea Urchin can be caught when diving in the river in the Piedmont area, by Georgio's and Fritz's farms, or in the pond at the Safari Park.

The recipe has a localization error on it, where it says it requires Rice + Basil to make, but it does take the correct ingredients when you go to cook it.

Loved Gifts (+500 FP)

The easiest loved gift to give to Raeger is Seaweed and Yellow Pearl. Seaweed is for sale at the Silk Country vendor for 270 G each starting in Summer of year 1. Yellow Pearl is sold at Mistel's Antique Shop for 4000 G each, which is quite a bit more expensive that Seaweed. Raeger also likes Yellow Downy Tuft, which is also sold at Silk Country for 1500 G, but not until Summer of year 2. You can also find Yellow Downy Tuft within the tree trunk foraging spot in the western Safari Park.

Other loved gifts that he likes are yellow-colored yarn+ and cloth+, Zebu Green Cheese+, and White Ceramic Plate (made using the Pottery Barn on your farm).

Liked Gifts (+300 FP)

Some easy liked gifts for Raeger are tea leaves, Coffee Pack and Spices (both sold at Silk Country), and Sea Urchin. He also likes red and yellow cloth and yarn, golden crops, jams, mushrooms (except for Poison Mushroom), red and yellow flowers (Red Rose, Hibiscus, and Sunflower), Ruby and ruby jewelry, Agate, and Pink Diamonds.

He does like some cooked recipes such as Cucumber Namul, Turnip Salad, Boiled Spinach, Squid Rice, Yam Rice, Yam Ice Cream, Grilled Fish, Fish Ice Cream, and Soy Milk cooked recipes (ice cream, cookies, etc.).

Raeger is glad to see you. He's just made a new cake and asks if you would like to taste test it. You take a seat at the table and eat some of the cake. How do you like it?

• Choice 1: It's delicious!

  Result: -1000 FP with Raeger

  He's glad you like it, but after you've eaten the whole thing, he realizes that he forgot to add the lemon sauce! It might of been good as is, but with a lemon sauce it would of tasted better. He feels bad that you ate an incomplete cake.

• Choice 2: It needs lemon...

  Result: +2000 FP with Raeger

  Oh, he has forgotten to add the lemon sauce! He leaves to fetch the sauce for the cake.

  After you've inhaled the tasty cake, Raeger is glad that you liked it. It was good before, but by adding the tartness of lemon, it is now even better. He is impressed with your cooking ability, and thanks you for your opinion.

You walk into the Restaurant and have a seat at the bar, but Raeger takes a little bit of time to welcome you. He's just a little tired, that's all. He asks if you'd like some fried rice and starts to make it for you. When he brings it to you, he made curry instead! He apologizes for the mix up and runs back to the kitchen, but he stops to catch his breath. He doesn't look well at all!

• Choice 1: You should rest today

  Result: -2000 FP with Raeger

  He has a shop to run, but he plans on taking some medicine after he closes the restaurant. He has dinner reservations coming soon and so he can't rest. You try to push him away from the kitchen, but this just makes him angry. Raeger says that even you are worried about him, if you respect his work, then you won't interrupt his work.

  Someone at the counter wants to place an order, so he wants to get back to work. He asks that you take a seat so he can cook your fried rice.

• Choice 2: Is there anything I can do?

  Result: +3000 FP with Raeger

  Actually he could use some help with the shop. A customer comes in and he heads towards the door, but he is really exhausted. This is going to cause him problems with his customers. Raeger asks if he can leave it all to you, and you get to work.

  After the last customer leaves, Raeger thanks you for helping him. He starts to talk some more, but he's so sick that he passes out! You take him to his room and put him to bed.

  When Raeger wakes up, he doesn't know how he got there, but he sits back down before he falls over again. You explain that you put him there, and he's sorry that he made you worry. He feels really lucky! It has been a long time since someone took care of him while he was sick. He was small when his parents got divorced, and so he was sent to live with his mom's father. His mom and grandfather were always too busy to take care of him while he was not feeling well. He never said anything because he didn't want to get into trouble. He is happy that someone is actually concerned about him.

  Raeger is not sure why he told you that. It must be because he is weak due to the sickness. He will thank you for this some day. Raeger has one more request though; he would like for you to stay with him for a little while. He also wants to rest a little bit more before he starts preparing for tomorrow.

As you walk into the Restaurant, you see Raeger hard at work. He tells you that he's been so busy that he hasn't had a chance to eat anything all day.

• Choice 1: Want me to make it?

  Raeger is looking forward to trying the food you cook for him, and complements you on your form while you are cooking. He explains that his former girlfriends wouldn't cook for him because they felt they were amateurs compared to his cooking abilities.

  After he tastes your food, the chef is amazed at what you've created. He jokingly suggests that you quit the farming business and become a chef. Maybe the two of you could open a restaurant together some day! Raeger hopes that you'll cook for him again, and invites you upstairs to chat for a bit.

  Result: +2000 FP with Raeger

• Choice 2: Make some for me too!

  Not a problem; Raeger starts to cook for the two of you. As you eat, Raeger is glad that you like the food he's prepared. Maybe you would like to make him some food sometime.

  • Choice A: I could never do that!

    Result: -2000 FP with Raeger

    Raeger is slightly upset, and wonders if you're worried how a pro chef will critique your cooking. He assures you that it wouldn't of been something to worry about. The two of you go back to eating your meal. After you leave, Raeger tells himself that he thought he was used to others refusing to cook for him, but hearing it from you really hurt his feelings.

  • Choice B: Sure I'd love to!

    Raeger is glad you're interested! He explains that his former girlfriends would always make excuses to not cook him anything, since he was a professional chef. As long as the food was edible, he would of enjoyed it. After you cook his meal, he complements you on your technique and the taste of the food, and invites you to hang out with him some more.

You happen to visit the restaurant while things are going slowly, so Raeger invites you to sit down and chat with him for a bit. Suddenly a customer walks in, a female customer, who begins to tease Raeger about skipping out on work to hit on a girl (i.e., you) when she had tried in vain to get him to skip out on work to be with her. He explains that he isn't skipping out on his duties to talk to a girl; he's merely being friendly to a customer.

Another lady comes into the restaurant to thank Raeger for the cooking recipe he gave. Her family loved the dish! Raeger talks with the two customers and eventually sees them out of his restaurant. You wonder if he is being overly friendly with those girls, but he explains that they are nice people and good customers, so he has no reason not to be nice to them.

• Choice 1: Wish you'd be that nice to me.

  Raeger thinks that you're cute when you say things like that, and wants to kiss you. Even though Raeger has had girlfriends in the past, he's never loved anyone as much as you.

• Choice 2: Nothing. Customer's always right!

    Result: -1500 FP with Raeger

    Raeger is upset that you don't trust him. Given that today has been rather awkward, Raeger doesn't feel like being very cheery. Next time he'll invite you over after he's closed up shop for the day.

  • Choice B: I want more of your attention

    Raeger thinks that you're cute when you say things like that, and wants to kiss you. Even though Raeger has had girlfriends in the past, he's never loved anyone as much as you.

• Choice 3: You're real popular with the girls.

  You sound a little jealous, but you try to deny it. Raeger hoped that you would be trust him to not be so jealous. A new customer walks in and he kindly asks you to leave so he can serve his customer. He asks you to stop by next time when he's on a break. Maybe you shouldn't of been so stubborn...
