A merchant by trade, Lloyd has traveled the world in search of the rarest ores and gems. He settled in Zephyr Town because of the bazaar, where he could shop at other vendors for his collection of materials. Lloyd typically keeps to himself and does not actively interact with the other town residents, preferring the secluded life with his rock collection.

Lloyd does have a conversational relationship with Mayor Felix, who enjoys listening to Lloyd's tales of travel.

Introduction Event

When you walk into Lloyd's house, he's doing paperwork for a large order for his merchant business. Right as he started to double-check his math, Lloyd discovered he had misplaced the receipt for the order! He tells you that a shipment for items to sell at the bazaar was on its way, but it won't work without that receipt...

Option 1: I'll help you!

That's a huge help! The two of you start looking for his form. You end up finding it, and he thanks you. He also invites you to stay for tea.

Option 2: You got this!

Yeah, he plans to search. Anyhow, he needs to get back to finding that receipt and is rather busy. Lloyd asks that you stop by some other time.

1-Heart Unlock Request

Mining Practice

You'll receive this event around Spring 3, even if you haven't met Lloyd yet. The merchant asks that you bring him 2 Iron and 20 Rock. Break up the rocks with the orange nodules to find Iron, and any 'ol boulder can be smashed into Rock. Bring the material back to Lloyd to receive 1 Fluorite.

Most of the candidates have their 1-heart request once they reach 1 heart of friendship; Lloyd's is an exception because it is a tutorial-style request.

 

2-Heart Event

Mayor Felix has stopped by to hear tales of Lloyd's travels. He tells you that Lloyd has an amazing knowledge of other cultures, so he enjoys listening to Lloyd's stories. The merchant replies that it is the least he can do in exchange for free housing. Curiously, Lloyd asks Felix, why the interest in other countries? Felix explains that he loves to learn about insights that may help with the development of the town and bazaar!

Felix realizes he needs to head out, right before Lloyd was going to offer to break out a rare tea for drinking. After he leaves, Lloyd asks if you would like to try this unusual tea.

Option 1: Sure, I'll try it!

Lloyd is pleased at your curiosity. The tea has a strong taste, but it is amazing once you get used to it.

Option 2: I'll pass...

Oh well, Lloyd will brew you some normal 'ol boring tea instead.

Now that tea is served, Lloyd tells stories of why he keeps returning to Zephyr Town. He admits there is something enticing about finally settling down.

(You can choose "Why don't you just live here?" or "Staying a little longer can't hurt." The result is the same either way.)

Lloyd notes that you have a good point, but he is a traveler; it is what he does best. Your disappointed response surprises him. Don't forget that life is basically one long string of "hellos" and "goodbyes". Still, he acknowledges your feelings as valid and appreciates you wanting him to stick around. Now then, if you're done with your tea, you should head back to work.

3-Heart Unlock Request

Where in the Wool...?

Lloyd thanks you for helping him look for that lost reciept. He now has another request. The next town over has the ore he wants, but they're only accepting wool and tea in exchange for their materials. Lloyd has tea and needs wool. He asks that you bring him 5 wool of any star rank or type: Brown Alpaca Wool, Alpaca Wool, Suffolk Wool, or plain 'ol Wool.

You're going to need to own some fluffy friends to complete this request. Lloyd doesn't want the processed yarn that Felix sometimes sends to your mailbox for unlocking new farm titles. Ramon sells the young animals at his bazaar booth, though it is random as to what he offers. Baby sheep and baby alpaca (cria) are 4000 G each, and baby suffolk and baby brown alpaca are 5000 G each. Sheep and alpaca take 7 days to mature. Bring him the requested wool to receive a Challenger Beetle Toy small decor for your bazaar booth.

 

4-Heart Event

Lloyd notices that his stock of an item is almost sold out, and another set of inventory items looks light enough for travel. Lloyd explains he is repacking his supplies in case he needs to head out on the road. He detects your hesitation and clarifies that it doesn't mean he'll be gone tomorrow. Lloyd simply prepares to head out whenever the time comes. It's part of being a traveler.

He pauses for a moment and remembers how he said it's easy to get too comfortable in Zephyr Town. Lloyd already feels that he's overstayed his welcome, as this is the longest he's been in one spot before.

Option 1: I want you to stay.

DEER IN HEADLIGHTS MODE. Huzzah what? After Lloyd recovered from the shock, he mentioned he had been asked to settle down a few times, but somehow it seems more genuine coming from you.

Option 2: I hope we meet again.

Statements like that make saying "goodbye" easier when you believe you'll see them again.

Lloyd needs to continue with his packing, though he admits he does enjoy talking with you. Sometimes he forgets about work for a while.

5-Heart Unlock Request

Hooked on History

Lloyd is looking for an item that he wants to sell: 1 Ancient Fish Fossil. This rare treasures can be caught in the area of the yellow windmill on non-sunny days (e.g., cloudy, rainy, snowy, hurricane, or blizzard) during any season using a Gold Fishing Rod, Gold Fishing Rod+, Orichalcum Fishing Rod, or Ultimate Fishing Rod. You want to cast your line in the area next to the windmill or the water area north of the windmill. You won't find Fish Fossil at the base of the waterfall near Lloyd's house.

Bring the old rock back to Lloyd to receive 3 Orichalcum (3-Star). This material can be used for tool upgrades at the yellow windmill.

 

6-Heart Event

Lloyd spots you from a distance and walks over to greet you. He explains he has something to tell you, though he seems a bit nervous. After a few false starts, Lloyd finally proclaims that he's decided to stay in Zephyr Town. He gave up traveling.

You're super surprised at this revelation, though Lloyd feels you're making a big deal out of nothing. He admits he was embarrassed to admit that he had made a big deal about leaving, and in the end, he didn't go anywhere. The thought of going to another location didn't excite him anymore. Honestly, Lloyd wants to live in the same place as you. Additionally, this marks a fresh start for his business. He's never had a stationary shop before, and that does excite him.

Lloyd explains he'll need to overhaul his merchandise to reflect a static store. In fact, he was on his way to pick up a new shipment and asked if you wanted to help him with taking delivery. As you both head down the path, Lloyd asks what you think of him, now that he is sticking around for good.

Option 1: I've fallen in love with you.

So you feel it, too? Lloyd admits he's felt this way for a while. While this is the first step for his new business, it is also the first step towards his new life and a new journey together with you.

Option 2: You're a great friend.

Lloyd nods. He's glad to have met you. He's never had such a close friend before.

It's up to you whether you want to be an official pair or just best buddies. There is no penalty for telling every marriage candidate that you love them; it merely changes the day-to-day dialog to feel more affectionate compared to being great friends. The candidate's character description in the Main Menu will note they are either "your newfound love" or "your trusted friend." You can continue to raise their affection to the maximum 10 hearts and propose marriage whether friends or lovers.

7-Heart Unlock Request

An Extraordinary Egg

Lloyd received another trade request, this time from a stubborn customer. He is in need of 1 5-Star Egg+ or Silkie Egg+. Egads! You'll need to take good care of your normal or Silkie birds and hope that luck's on your side. In return you'll receive 1 Mithril (5-star).

 

Marriage Proposal

Lloyd insists on letting Felix be the first person to know about the engagement, as Felix is like a second father to Lloyd. At Felix's house, the mayor is excited to hear about the upcoming marriage and declares that he'll be in charge of the wedding plan. Oh boy!

At the scenic overlook in the Mountains, Lloyd begins to ponder how to merge his ore business with your farm products. This is not the time for that! Lloyd apologizes for the lack of romance. The merchant admits that while he tends to keep his thoughts to himself, he wants you to clearly understand that he is happy to be marrying you.

The marriage proposal event will last all day, ending at 7:00 pm in front of your house.
