Kagetsu

graphic

Kagetsu is a maiden who lives behind the waterfall outside of Zephyr Town. It's a little shrine that few can reach; basically, just the player and the Nature Sprites. Kagetsu is similiar to a diety character in Grand Bazaar. The other townsfolks are initially oblivious to her existance as she watches over and prays for everyone's well being from a distance. Kagetsu is dedicated to her duties as a shrine maiden, but wonders if she is missing out on experiencing the world outside of her sheltered shrine.

After your bazaar has reached Rank 3 (Town Bazaar), walk into the Mountain area to see a mysterious seal appear on the ground behind Arata's lean-to shelter. Head over to the seal to reach Kagetsu's shrine.

In the original Nintendo DS game, this character's English name was Emiko. She remained in the shrine after marriage, but in the Story of Seasons version, Kagetsu does leave the shine during the day, attends events, and will live with the protagonist post-marriage.

Kagetsu's Divinations

After you see Kagetsu's 4-Heart event (see below), talk to her to have your fortune told for free. Select the "What's my fortune look like?" option to have Kagetsu connect with the spirits. She'll give you a random blessing, between Level 1 and Level 4, that can last about 30 hours. Only one Kagetsu special blessing can be active at one time.

Kagetsu's blessings are in addition to any status effects received by eating a cooked meal or from Fortune's Favors at the bazaar.

Romantic Events

Introduction Event

Screen Shot

Kagetsu is welcoming, but reminds you that your time is best spent elsewhere. Your refusal to buzz off has sparked her interest. The world that you live in is quite tempting to Kagetsu, which is why she avoids such things. She feels it may negatively affect her duties as a shrine maiden.

She detects you pity her, but Kagetsu confirms she is satisfied with her life. The two of you weren't intended to meet anyway. Once again, she suggested you forget these encounters and continue with your life.

1-Heart Unlock Request

Search for What's Lost

She has lost an item in the mountain that Kagetsu uses during her prayers. She asks that you go look for it. Her item can be found under the tree by the bridge in the northwest corner of the mountain area. As a reward, you'll receive 3 1-Star Shitake Spores.

2-Heart Event

Screen Shot

Kagetsu is wondering about the gifts you've been giving. She wonders if you have so many belongings that you feel the need to give them to her.

Option 1: I can always buy more.

Ah, these things are readily available to you. Kagetsu assumes that things may appear dull and insignificant to you because you're surrounded by beauty.

Option 2: I get them for you!

Kagetsu smiles. She assumed the brilliance of these gifts were just her imagination, but it seems that your sincerity was the reason.

Kagetsu has been surprised with how much beauty you've shown her. You offer to show her the outside world. She replies that while it sounds intreguing, her priority is with her duties as a shrine maiden. Satifying that curiosity would be neglectful of her responsibilities. Kagetsu does thank you for the courteous invitation.

3-Heart Unlock Request

Curious About Cooking

Kagetsu is interested in eating something you've prepared in your kitchen. She requests 5 1-Star Side Dishes. These meals aren't overly complicated. Qualifying dishes include Boiled Egg (1 egg), Cooked Rice (1 rice), Sashimi (1 fish), and Fish Cake (1 fish). The meals sold by Madeleline are only 0.5-Star, so you will have to use your kitchen and ingredients with a high enough quality. In exchange you'll receive 3 2-Star Common Mushroom Spores.

4-Heart Event

Screen Shot

Kagetsu has been thinking and would like to take you up on your offer to venture into the outside world. Let'sa go!

The first person Kagetsu meets is Sophie. The two women introduce themselves. Sophie is curious as to the sorts of things Kagetsu prays for. After Kagetsu explains she prays for the bounty of the earth, Sophie relates that it is like feeling thankful for all the beautiful flowers in town. Sophie also gives Kagetsu some freshly-cut flowers to enjoy.

Later, the two of you bump into Kevin. Who's this lady? After Kagetsu explains she isn't around because of her work in the mountains, Kevin offers her some of his snacks. He's supposed to be sharing anyway, at least according to his mom.

While sitting on the bench, enjoying the delicious snacks, Gabriel walks by. They introduce themselves to each other. Kagetsu is curious to see Gabriel's paintings, so he brings a scenery piece out for her to look at. It's really a stunning picture! Kagetsu would love to see more of Gabriel's artwork someday.

Back at the shrine, Kagetsu realizes she spends a lot of time praying for the world, yet the world is already a beautiful place. Spending time with you has warmed her heart, and she thanks you for spending time with her today.

After this event, you may see Kagetsu appear during festivals.

5-Heart Unlock Request

Carrying Conversations

Visiting the town has allowed Kagetsu to partake in conversation with the villagers, but she is struggling. She asks that you share ways to strengthen her conversation skils. You can complete this by talking to residents 100 times. Just walk up to someone and have a chit chat. It can be multiple times per day with the same person, and also includes any conversations you initiate with Kagetsu. In return she'll give you 3 3-Star Morel Spores.

6-Heart Event

Screen Shot

Kagetsu says she has a gift for you this time and hands you a Blue Mist Flower, which she found while participating in her daily rituals. Kagetsu wants you to have the flower as a token of appreciation for taking her to visit the town. That experience was life-changing!

Since that visit, Kagetsu has more warmth in her prayers. She used to think of her duties as a simple role that only she could fulfil. Now that she's seen the world that she's been praying for, Kagetsu understands that it is already full of beauty and love. She now prays for the sake of everyone in town.

Kagetsu hopes that you'll allow her to be by your side and asks how you feel about her.

Option 1: I've fallen in love with you.

She smiles in response. Kagetsu feels the same. It is as though fate has brought you together.

Option 2: You're a great friend.

Kagetsu feels blessed by your friendship and hopes you will always be a dear and trusted friend.

It's up to you whether you want to be an official pair or just best buddies. There is no penalty for telling every marriage candidate that you love them; it merely changes the day-to-day dialog to feel more affectionate compared to being great friends. The candidate's character description in the Main Menu will note they are either "your newfound love" or "your trusted friend." You can continue to raise their affection to the maximum 10 hearts and propose marriage whether friends or lovers.

7-Heart Unlock Request

Unconventional Crops

Kagetu has learned about perculiar crops that can appear on your farm. She would love to see this for herself. Bring Kagetsu 1 giant crop of any star rank. Qualifying crops are Avocando, Cabbage, Pumpkin, Sweet Potato, Tomato, and Turnip. In return she'll give you 3 4-Star Porcini Mushroom Spores.

Marriage Proposal

Screen Shot

Kagetsu accepts your marriage proposal and asks that you accompany her to the shrine for a brief prayer. She tells the spirits that soon your life will be intertwined with hers and asks the spirits for their blessing. A mysterious "Congratulations!" soon rings out (suspiciously sounding like Ivy the Nature Sprite). Kagetsu didn't expect a response to her prayer, so hearing the strange voice warms her heart.

At the scenic overlook in the Mountains, Kagetsu is happy about your proposal, though she is worried about living together. Her culture is far different than yours; she still has a lot to learn from socializing with the villagers and is concerned that her cooking won't be to your tastes. Kagetsu soon realizes that those issues don't matter to you and promises to do all she can to make you happy.

The marriage proposal event will last all day, ending at 7:00 pm in front of your house.
