Ridable Mounts
Traveling around Anthos is easy when using the Harvest Goddess warp statues. After landing, you can whistle for your mount to travel faster than merely walking. When in the outside world, press down on the directional pad to call your primary riding mount. You can select which mount you want as your whistled-friend by using the Animal Notebook inside the animal barn.
Mounts have various qualities.
- Horses and zebra are good for the flatlands and the beach, but can't run in the desert, snow, volcano, or during a storm.
- Reindeer handle flatlands, beach, and snow, but not the desert, volcano, or storms.
- Camel can do flatlands, beach, and desert, but not snow, volcano, or storms.
- Raptors, sasquatchies, and unicorns can go anywhere you want, except for indoors. No mount can do that.
After you complete the main story, a pair of wild horses will appear north of Westly and Vivi's house in Providence. The colors of these wild horses will change seasonally: Dark Brown (spring), Dark Chestnut (summer), Silver Dapple (autumn), and Black (winter). Like all wild animals, these horses will keep the friendship levels as they appear every season.
Horses
Brown Horse
A very impressive horse. You can ride it at high speeds.
Purchased: Lectenbury Animal Shop for 3000 G after you reach Providence and deliver Judy's letter.
Tamed: The first horse you'll most likely come across, just to the east of Providence Village. 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Gray Horse
A very impressive horse. You can ride it at high speeds.
Purchased: Lilikala Animal Shop for 3000 G after starting the town's 4th cultural level star.
Tamed: While this horse is for sale in tropical Lilikala, it's found wild in the Herbstburg region. 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Chestnut Horse
A very impressive horse. You can ride it at high speeds.
Purchased: Herbstburg Animal Shop for 3000 G.
Tamed: There are two locations for this horse. The pair by the Mountain Trail Entrance are on a higher elevation than the path below and startle easily. You'll need to carefully walk up the cliff behind the horses and then slowly crawl to their location. 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Dark Brown Horse
A very impressive horse. You can ride it at high speeds.
Purchased: Providence Animal Shop for 15,000 G after restoring the village's mini Harvest Goddess Spring.
Tamed: The easiest one is just south of the Hilltop Fishing Pond warp statue, which you can visit anyway to catch the Golden Carp found at the nearby pond. 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Black Horse
A very impressive horse. You can ride it at high speeds.
Purchased: Herbstburg Animal Shop for 9,000 G after starting the town's 4th cultural level star.
Tamed: While you can purchase this horse in Herbstburg, for one season per year (if you've beat the game story), you can find it just outside of Providence near the blue Harvest Wisp that holds Cabbage Seeds. Otherwise, the Black Horse cannot be found in the wild. 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Dark Chestnut Horse
A very impressive horse. You can ride it at high speeds.
Purchased: Lilikala Animal Shop for 15,000 G after starting the town's 5th cultural level star.
Tamed: The closest is near the Lilikala Mine warp statue. 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
White Horse
A very impressive horse. You can ride it at high speeds.
Purchased: (Not available in shops)
Tamed: There are White Horse locations in each corner of Anthos. Three of them are close to a Harvest Goddess warp statue, while the White Horse in the southeast corner is a short journey south from the Shooting Star Shore warp statue. This horse's island is not accessible during winter, though you can still reach the the other three White Horse locations. 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Silver Dapple Horse
A very impressive horse. You can ride it at high speeds.
Purchased: Herbstburg Animal Shop for 9000 G after starting the town's 5th cultural level star.
Tamed: These horses are found on high peak. You can find a pair of them in the flatlands north of Westly and Vivi's house after you complete the game's story. 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Zebra
An equine with black and white strips. Can be ridden.
Purchased: (Not available in shops)
Tamed: These pretty guys are in the south and west regions of Anthos. They feel like they're a little faster than normal horses, but it may just because of their striped coat. Adding stripes to anything makes it go faster; varoom varoom. 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Unicorn (DLC)
A relative of the horse that has a magnificent horn. You can ride it.
Purchased: (Not available in shops)
Tamed: This horse is in the corner of the farm space by the Harvest Goddess Spring in Providence. You need to have completed the game's story and interact with the magical bridge that leads to the farm space. 7:00 pm to 6:00 am.
Pink Unicorn (DLC)
A relative of the horse that has a magnificent horn. You can ride it.
Purchased: (Not available in shops)
Tamed: A different color of unicorn, can be found wandering on the east side of the desert oasis. 7:00 pm to 6:00 am.
Cervidae
Reindeer
A reindeer with big antlers. Can live in cold regions.
Purchased: Zimagrad Animal Shop for 15,000 G.
Tamed: These are throughout the cold mountains, though their location on the DocPad world map can be misleading. The pair that appears to be close to the Foot of the Snowy Mountains warp statue are actually on the ground below, accessible by getting to the North Wind Hot Springs warp statue and traveling northeast or by getting to the Blizzard Path warp statue and traveling west. Likewise, the pair of Reindeer that looks close to the Snow Viewing Spring warp statue is actually in the Aurora Woods area. They lack a distinctive red nose and cannot fly. 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Camelus
Dromedary Camel
A camel that lives in the desert. The fat-filled hump on its back can store nutrients.
Purchased: Lilikala Animal Shop for 15,000 G.
Tamed: Wild versions of this animal can be found in the desert. 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Dinosaurs
Blue Velociraptor
A small dinosaur that inhabited this land a long time ago. It is rumored to still be living somewhere in the world...
Purchased: (Not available in shops)
Ability: Makes it a little easier to make friends. When this dino is tamed and has its friendship notes maxed out, there is a slight boost awarded when befriending other animals.
Tamed: This versatile mount can be found at the summit of the volcano. You'll need to first remove the wall that surrounds Zimagrad, as the pathway to the summit is blocked by Heims' wall. A Harvest Goddess warp statue can be activated at the summit to make the trip back super quick. 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Orange Velociraptor (DLC)
A small dinosaur that inhabited this land a long time ago. It is rumored to still be living somewhere in the world...
Purchased: (Not available in shops)
Ability: Makes it a little easier to make friends. When this dino is tamed and has its friendship notes maxed out, there is a slight boost awarded when befriending other animals.
Tamed: A color variety of the Blue Velociraptor found in the desert. Take the Raindrop Pond warp statue and walk into the walled-off area just to the north of the statue. 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Sasquatch
As goofy as it sounds, the big puffballs are ridable. They can go through any terrain and storm, but their large size makes it impossible to get through small gaps between fences. They're fun to take through the Equestrian Challenge because colliding with another race competitor tends to sends someone out of the way.
Locations on how to tame these download content creatures are on the Barn Pets page.
