Character Creation

After selecting New Game from the title menu of Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos, you'll select the appearance of your character for your game's profile. This profile will remain the same once you begin the game's story.

The game supports multiple save files so you can have a save file for each character. The game uses "they" pronouns and doesn't specify male/female during character creation. Since players can wed any available marriage candidates, this choice between the two character appearances simply locks players to a specific style of outfits. The character wearing a dress can purchase more dresses, and the character wearing pants will have pants and shorts clothing options.

Skin Tone

There are six options for skin tone. This is another selection that cannot change once the game begins. The skin tone can carry over to the post-marriage child.

Hair Color

You've 14 colors of hair to pick from. The hair color can change at any time by selecting the cabinet inside the house and picking a different color. The hair choice the protagonist has selected during the wedding will determine the hair color of the post-marriage child.

Eye Color

Another set of 14 colors to choose for your character's eyes. This cannot change once the game begins.

Birthday

Select the season and then the day of your birthday. Nothing seems to happen on your birthday, whether you're single or married. The only thing I've noticed is that often, there is a 30% off sale on my birthday, but that could be a coincidence.

Name

Select a name for your character. The default names are Justin and Christina. This also cannot be changed later. The player's name can be up to 10 characters. There is no word filter that would prevent naughty word choices for your character's name.

Finally, the game will display your profile selections, along with an option either go back to make changes or move forward and start the game.
