Spring Festivals

There are 8 villagers who are celebrating their birthdays in the Spring season:

  • Vaughn - Spring 03
  • Julia - Spring 06
  • Goddess - Spring 08
  • Mirabelle - Spring 11
  • Pierre - Spring 13
  • Chen - Spring 17
  • Chelsea - Spring 20
  • Gannon - Spring 27
New Years Day - Spring 01

Between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, go to the Meadow island to pound some New Years mochi. When you are ready to start the festival, talk to Taro and you'll get a chance to pound away at the rice to make mochi (Rice Cakes).

As a reward you will get to eat some of the tasty rice cakes. Unfortunately, you can end up eating them too fast, as the sticky goo can stick in your throat and choke you! The choking scene is completely random and doesn't have a negative impact on anyone's friendship.

You will return to your house when the festival is over. The time will be 6:00 pm on the 1st, and in your Rucksack you'll find your own stack of Rice Cakes.

This festival will not occur in your first year, since you wash ashore and start your farm on the 2nd of Spring. The other reason is the fact that you don't have access to the Meadow where festivals are held. You will need to hire Gannon to build the bridge to the Meadow so festivals can take place.

Goddess Festival - Spring 07 and Spring 08

In order to fully participate in the Goddess Festival, you will need to invite someone to go with you on the 7th of Spring. Walk around to any of the marriage candidates with a Green or higher heart color (except for Shea and Witch) and invite them to go to the festival with you.

The next morning the person will arrive at your front door. It seems that the preparations are not ready yet for the festival, so he/she would like to hang out in your house until you have finished with your farm work for the day. You are free to leave your house to take care of your crops and livestock.

Don't forget about your date!

If you get to working on your farm like a good farmer should, make sure you return to your house before 6:00 pm! If you leave your date waiting for you all day then you will take about a full color (10,000 FP) negative hit to the person's heart color!

When you have finished with your work, go back into your house and talk to your date to go to the festival. At the Meadow, talk with Alisa to start the party. The bachelorettes in attendance will do a little dance to celebrate the Harvest Goddess' birthday.

If you can't get a date:

You can still attend the festival by visiting the Meadow between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. A shorter celebration dance routine occurs, and it is not as romantic compared to actually bringing a date with you.

To activate the Goddess Festival, you need to have Nathan and Alisa unlocked. Visit the church during the winter season and you'll view a scene where Alisa gets an idea to celebrate the Goddess' birthday with a festival.

Spring Thanksgiving - Spring 14

What you do on this festival will depend on the gender of farmer you are playing as.

If you are playing as a boy

You can give Chocolate and/or Chocolate Cookies to the girls for a boost in Friendship Points. The girls you give gifts to will need to be receptive to your gifts in the first place, so if you have ignored the person for a while she will not accept your Chocolate.

If you are playing as a girl

Today you will have visitors appear at the front door of your farm house. You will have to exit your house and then go back inside for the boy to arrive with either Chocolate or Chocolate Cookies. If the boy has a Yellow, Orange, or Red heart color then you'll get the cookies; anything lower will just reward you with Chocolate.

  • 6:00 am to 8:00 am - Elliot
  • 8:00 am to 10:00 am - Vaughn
  • 10:00 am to 12:00 pm - Denny
  • 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm - Pierre
  • 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm - Shea
  • 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm - Mark

If you are a married girl

You will get Chocolate Cookies from your spouse in your Rucksack.

Sheep Festival - Spring 19

On the 18th of Spring, Mirabelle will stop by your house in the morning and invite you to enter one of your sheep in the festival. If you enter a sheep, it must have all of its wool and can not be pregnant. Mirabelle will take the sheep from your farm and return it to the barn after the festival is over.

When it is the 19th, go to the Meadow between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Talk to Mirabelle to start the judging, where your sheep will be compared to three others. If your sheep has 8 or more hearts then it will be declared the winner.

You will receive a Wonderful Stone if you are the winner.

If you don't have a sheep, which requires you to have at least 2 Boy Farmers on your island before Mirabelle will sell them, then you can still attend but only as a viewing participant.

Cooking Festival - Spring 24

The cooking festival runs in two parts. The first part occurs between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm, where you must visit the Meadow and talk to Pierre to choose the festival's cooking category. When you leave the Meadow you'll be teleported back to your house so you can make your recipe entry.

Just like in past Harvest Moon games, a winning recipe is one with many ingredients. Adding additional ingredients to a base recipe will help to increase its strength and hunger values.

Recipe suggestions:

  • Salad: Herb Salad, Salad Spaghetti, Mashed Potatoes
  • Soup: Mixed Latte, Mixed Juice, Fruit Juice, Relaxtea
  • Orderve: Steamed Turnips, Chop Suey, Teacake, Fried Egg, Happy Eggplant, Mountain Stew, Sandwich, nattou recipes, croquette recipes
  • Main: Grautin, Omelet Rice, Ultimate Curry, Finest Curry, White Curry
  • Desert: pies, Cheesecake, Chocolate Cookies, Cake

Bring your cooking creation back to the Meadow before 6:00 pm and give it to Pierre. He will take your submission, add it to the table, and start the judging. If you get a "..." for your dish, don't expect to win. On the other hand, if you get a "GooD" from Pierre then you have a good chance of winning but it is not guaranteed.

Once he has tasted all of the entries, Pierre will give his judgement. If you are declared the cooking winner then you will win a Wonderful Stone.

Spring Crop Judging - Spring 29

Felicia will stop by your house in the morning of the 28th to remind you of the festival to be held the next day. She will also remind you of the crop you will need to bring. You can always check your calendar for the 29th, as it will list the crop you are going to need.

  • Year 1 - Turnip
  • Year 2 - Potato
  • Year 3 - Cucumber
  • Year 4 - Strawberry
  • Year 5 - Cabbage
  • Year 6 and beyond - randomly selected

Between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, bring the required Spring crop to the Meadow for judging. The higher the rank (A Rank or S Rank), the better chance you'll have of winning

You can win a Wonderful Stone from this festival.
