Van
This traveling merchant caters to unusual wares and cute animals. He will begin to visit Mineral Town on Wedesdays after you have tossed at least 30 gifts into the Harvest Goddess' pond. Van doesn't participate in any festivals or random events; he's there to open his shop and not much else.
In the original GBA game, Van would only appear to sell his Wednesday goods when players used the GBA-to-Gamecube link cable accessory to communicate with their copy of Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life for Gamecube. FoMT would connect to AWL for Boy, and MFoMT would connect to AWL for Girl. After connecting the two games together, Van would appear in the GBA games to sell the Record Player and music records. In the Gamecube game, he would sell FoMT-themed music for the in-game record player.

Schedule: On every non-festival Wednesday, Van will be on the 2nd floor of Dudley's inn. He will be available until the inn closes at 10:00 pm (or earlier, depending on your friendship level with Dudley).
On the 15th of the season if the weather is sunny outside, Van will set up a pet shop in Rose Plaza from 12:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
If the 15th happens to also fall on a Wednesday, Van starts his day at the inn, then appear in plaza at noon to take care of the pet stall. At 6:00 pm, he will leave the plaza and return to the second floor of the inn for the remainder of the Wednesday.
